Re: [IMG] IMG 1.9.1 so people complained about the previous color scheme and Verizon changed it...now people are complaining about the new color scheme...what will Verizon do next?
I'm still on 1.9a but I agree that it is fine...VZ overreacted and completely changed it in a sort of panic move...if they would have just been patient and let people get used to the colors it would have been fine...people just naturally hate change but they will eventually get used to it |

I thought 1.9 looked just fine on my HD TVs. But it was harder to read on my smaller, SD screens. I've seen the guide, in SD mode, even on decent HD TVs, and I can understand the complaint. This was an attempt to address that. Beyond that, much comes down to personal preference. Some people like darker schemes, some lighter. Some people have trouble reading screens with some color scheme, while others find that same scheme to be easy to read. They're trying to strike a balance. I give them kudos for doing that. I do agree with you on one point - people will get used to it.
I'd really love to have them give us some customization options. Even if they just gave us a choice of different template types, it would be a very good move. |

 | reply to nascar FWIW, I got the update last night, and I'm in VHO7. |

I did not have issues seeing the color sceme of 1.8 nor have i ever had a problem with the color scheme on my TiVo's.
I do think a balance can be found, maybe 1.9.1 offers it. !.9 looks as if no one at Verizon gave it any thought as to people being color blind.
As for the fonts, on my Mother-in-laws SD TV using a cisco box the font in the guide and menu's is so blury as to be painful to try to focus on yet they are crystal clear on my HDTV.
It will be interesting to get 1.9.1 to see how the colors look and what it fixes, also what it screws up. |

| reply to nascar i'm confused. i got a message on both my boxes (cisco's) a few days ago stating that my IMG would be updated on 5/22 (today) at 4am. so i sit down with my morning coffee at 7am and i'm still on 1.9 build 12.40.
was that message only intended for moto boxes, but they just push it out to the entire vho regardless of which stb you have?
edit: DOH! i was a little too hasty in posting. should've read back a page. silly verizon... tell us we're getting an update, but oh wait, SYKE! it's just for the moto folks. :/ |

| reply to joe01880 Joe- I posted pics of the new color scheme a week or so ago - check a few pages back.
Or, just go to the story from yesterday about Comcast's new X1 guide - they're pretty much the same. -- "ONE team - ONE city - ONE dream!!" |

 | Got the IMG firmware update last night and first impressions are good. I didn't have a problem with the color scheme from 1.9 and the new one is fine so it's a push. It will take a while to flesh out the whole thing but I tried scrolling through my recorded programs and lo and behold it didn't lag behind my remote commands, so there is a definite improvement there. I also tried the skip function and so far so good (no ending up at the end of the program). |

Everytime I reboot it I get the same screen. Its a QIP7100-p2, anyone know what I should do before calling support?
thanks |

thanks The pin number itself is fine, it actually appears everytime your box boots. I am assuming you left it for a few minutes and it never changed. Probably a few things you could try, but most likely you need to call tech support. |

Mtaz join:2008-10-21 Hawthorne, NJ | reply to bohratom I got the same pin message however my DVR 7232-2 was also stuck in what seemed to be an infinite reboot loop. Pulling the power etc did nothing as well as using VZ Agent... Called into Tech support, they were not of any help. He said the box is defective and wanted to ship me out another one, of course I would not do as I would have prob got a older 6 series. Anyway disconnected all cables and power waited an hour, plugged back in video came up without a guide and trying to get the menu proved fruitless. Then it started rebooting by itself over and over again but this time there was some TV in between, about 5 minutes worth of watching TV, then it would reboot. About 30 minutes of this going on I finally got the VZ curtain and about a minute later it is up. So far as good. |

Called into Tech support, basically useless and said the box is no good and wanted to ship me out another one, thank goodness I did not do that would have prob got a 6 series. Anyway disconnected all cables and power waited an hour, plugged back in video came up without a guide or menu response and then it started rebooting buy itself over and over again but this time there was some TV in between. About 30 minutes of this going on I finally got the VZ curtain and about a minute later it is up. So far as good. Sounds like what happened to be during the 1.8.1 upgrade. The IMG download gets corrupted and it confuses the box. If you get video and can change channels but cant access the menu (or it gets you to a PIN screen), than the box is okay, the motorola firmware is ok, but the IMG software isn't installed correctly, the box is NOT dead!!! It's like a PC without an OS. It can bootup to the firmware, but theres no OS loaded.
To fix it, unplug both the coax and power for 10-15 minutes. Than plug both back in, make sure the coax is secure and just let the box sit, it could take over an hour for it to recheck, download and re-attempt the upgrade. It fixed it for me and I had no issues since with that box, though I have since upgraded to a 7232.
TBH I think verizon's answer to everything is either sending out a new STB or a new router, without actually diagnosing the real issue or trying to fix it other than "Well just reboot it."
Also, while the 1.9 colors didn't bother me, I do like these new colors alot better, much easier to read IMO! |

ksalper join:2002-11-15 West Orange, NJ | reply to nascar Got it, liking it. Was hoping the "play all" and "delete all" options would be extended to remote STBs at this point, but that's all right. Being able to flip from DVR recordings to live TV and back again is great! |
