Re: [ps3] USB Modchip Yea, those stopped being relevant after custom firmware started showing up, since geohot's discovery allowing it to be in a perma-jailbreak mode on the firmware.
However, yea, that has been a problem regarding that many games post-3.55 won't work. Some do, if the patches can be ready on a 3.55 (or lower) firmware, but no new games now do. 
Progress is apparently being made... but all too slow and steady for my tastes.
If anything now, I'd be looking at either a Cobra USB or True Blue; CobraUSB would allow me to finally retire my chipped PS2, while True Blue would have a workaround to allow post-3.55 games to work on the system (not perfect, but better than nothing). But neither will work if your PS3 is already past 3.55.  -- Because, f*ck Sony |
