Re: [DSL] Upgraded to 25/7, experiencing congestion

said by HiVolt:

Well, but just even look at the noise margin on the upstream on the two firmwares

5.6dB vs 12db.

That should be telling enough.

That's why you get different cap stats reported.

Yep. Though the sync was stable with the other modem, never disconnected. Just not syncing at full speed with it.

Is the overall experience with 1.0.4.3EF-STINGER much better and/or consistently better at your location?

So far, yes. But this is only after a few hours of use, unfortunately I have to return it to you!

Keep it until Friday if you want, I can get by with this one for a bit.

Ok, that'd be great, gives me another full evening of testing!

Back to full speed. This is only a short 2-3 hour window where it tanks... The remote could be at capacity, and Bell FibeTV is given priority when people watch TV the most.

TSI has ordered a modem swap, but it's a lottery which modem I get. We'll see. I can send back whichever modem is worse.

It's called under-engineering the network.

So far all I heard are crickets from Teksavvy's side. Any updates?

Well I got a modem swap, but I got the same shitty firmware 1.0.4.3EF-ISAM, and the upload sync sucks bigtime like before...

At least your u/l is better than mine.

Seriously, can you believe TSI hasn't said anything about all of this. No explanation. I still haven't heard from them in direct forum, no follow up on this thread. I have to commend you for pressing on.

TSI ended up in the same situation as cable. Over sold and waiting for upgrades.

I bet your upload would be fine if you would just get the proper modem with the proper firmware.

The difference is huge.

Well, how do I do that? If I get another one I could end up with one that re-boots.

They said you can just send it back. I left the PPPoE login enabled in this one, hoping that it might auto-update to the rebooting firmware... just to see if the stats are any better with that one.

But, your results for u/l are not good, do we keep on sending them back till one works well? Actually, I could accept lower upload if I had solid download speeds.

Still doesn't solve the slow speed issue, unless you really think it is a firmware thing.

No, the proper firmware did not solve the download issue. There's still congestion, and Its probably just the remote is reached capacity.

But at least I want the proper friggin firmware for my modem so i can get the upload speed I pay for.

Amazing how Bell sends a modem with the same firmware it's supposed to replace knowing that firmware doesn't work, Doh!
