Re: Household plumbing - What is this thing? This is a very good water softening setup for people on wells and septic systems. There is no massive water usage for flushing the brine solution from the resin beads.
My uncle used to work for Culligan and one of his jobs was exchanging these tanks for customers on a regular basis.
He would bring the used tanks back to their shop and they would backflush them in a special setup that they didn't lose the resin beads down the drain.
