[iO] HD Movies look like TV Serials

Hello
I m very new with IO TV, just got HD boxes installtaion with my New Toshiba 55" 1080P LED TV via a good quality HDMI cable. The on Demand HD movies looks like that you are watching a TV serial, the colors are not that Vibrant and does not gives a feel that you are watching a movie.
When I play a HD DVD I can really enjoy the true colors and do get a feel of a watching a movie
Can somebody help me to change the settings. I know they send the signals on 1080i, does that has to do something with this?
I have called many times to IO but they are unable to address this issue. Please help me with your valuable inputs.

I'm guessing you made sure everything was set to 1080p mode but besides but what is "TV serial?" I'm still trying to figure that out.

Movies from a disc will in general always look better because it's higher bitrate. TV companies compress their video streams to fit more video down the single pipe coming to your house.

Also of-course make sure you are watching a HD channel rather than a stretched SD channel.

For the same reason and a few others I had to change my refresh rate from 120 to 60. I have a Samsung that's about 4 years old.

Dear Shotta and others
Thanks very much for taking time out and replying.
When I say "TV Serial" means watching "Freinds" or "Evrybody Loves Raymond" the movies looks like the same which looks very funny.
I m certainly watching the On Demand Movies on HD and the other movies channels on HD.
Tradewind indicated that I should change the Refresh Rate from 120HZ to 60HZ, I will go home today and try on that and give my feedback
Thanks
Victor

that is misinformation, you CAN NOT change refresh rate of the tv
the refresh rate is fixed
you can adjust the motion interpolation setting, as i stated above

My bad. You are correct, it is called interpolation.

Misinformation has a bad connotation these days thanks to Politicians and Bureaucrats . Let's call it a brain fart in my case

A little info to read: Motion interpolation

You mean sitcoms?

Basically he's talking about the "Soap Opera Effect" where film looks too smooth as it's being played at 60 or 120FPS instead of 24FPS. If you've ever seen big action movies with SOE you'll want to rip your eyes out!

To the OP, check if your TV has a "Game" mode if it doesn't have the mentioned options above. Game mode usually turns off those SOE features since games require less lag.

if a simple rule was made to record, play and broadcast content at a universal standard, there would be much less issues to deal with.
