It can take an hour or two before the modem gets activated at their end. When it is, it will stop cycling through its LEDs (assuming you have a DCM-475).

You can also use a computer, and access the modem's status page at 192.168.100.1. In my case, the status said "Access denied", until the modem was finally activated at their end, at which point I was no longer able to access the page, and Internet became accessible. For me that happened about 40 mins after the tech left.

There is no username/password involved with cable. Just a VL code to check your quota usage on their website.
