Re: Anyone with CenturyLink in Portland, OR?

es1, where in SE are you? i'm in the 50th and division area. a couple weeks ago 40/20 was showing as an option but now only the 20/5 option is available. i called a rep and they are saying 20/5 is the fastest I can get.

I think you'll find that the CL website can be very inaccurate at times. Sometimes it will tell you that insane speeds are available. Other times it won't acknowledge service availability at all (even if you are actually receiving service). It's really unfortunate because every once in awhile the site says that 3 or 7mbps service is available at my house (I get 1.5 service now). But I'm on a price-for-life contract and I'll lose the price lock if I change service levels. I would be totally pissed if I ordered the higher speeds, lost the price lock, and then found out that CL couldn't actually deliver the speeds. But a screw up like that could never happen at CenturyLink, could it?

That's pretty stupid. I also found out that it's really a 20/1 connection. Oddly enough I can step down to a 7/2 connection...why the hell can't i get 2 up on the 20down?

gah. whatever. it's not a contract so i'll give it 30 days. if it sucks i'll go back to comcast.
