Re: [DSL] Upgraded to 25/7, experiencing congestion

Are we sure its congestion then? In London when some DSL areas had congestion it affected both Bell and TSi customers equally.

I wouldn't blame Teksavvy, I am experiencing the same crap being with bell. I'm supposed to be on fibe 25/7.

You might have line issues or you're to far from the SLAM to get the full speed. If you have Bell service I would suggest giving them a call and get a tech out to your place.

I'm not too far from the Dslam.
It's back to normal now.
I was thinking they were maybe upgrading me to 25/10 from 25/7 but no such luck.

Interesting, no congestion effects tonight.

I never experienced congestion problems before tonight and I'm on 16/1 in downtown Toronto. Ping times have tripled and download speed is 2/3 of my normal 16.5Mb/s. I double checked my line stats just to make sure nothing had changed there and they're fine.

Pennywally, your pings are way too high. I have low ping with low D/N speeds during peak times. I don't think we have the same problem. Although, you and I share the same low U/L.

My pings are usually around 6-7ms with both Bell and TSI logins.

Like I mentioned to Peenywally, I don't have issues with ping just speed.

Hrm... No congestion for a 2nd day in a row... Could Bell have upgraded the feed to the remote?

Maybe for you....not for me.

If they did upgrade you, congrats HiVolt.

Wasn't your upload limited due not to having the proper upstream sync, crazypants? I dont remember your line stats... Can your refresh my memory?

My download speed is still only 2/3's of my normal 16.5Mb/s speed and I have the 19Mb downstream profile.

DMT Results
It is interesting that I too have been experiencing degraded speeds especially between 6pm - 1am. I have been on the TekSavvy DSL 12/1 service since end of March. (South-East Kitchener, ON). Speed has been good until early May when speeds started fluctuating. Prior to May my speed tests were like the one shown in the first image with about 11 Mb/Sec down and .64 Mb/s up. Now the downstream averages about 5 - 6 Mb/sec down as shown in 2nd image. DMT seems to show all is well with my connection and rebooting the router has no effect on speeds.

Something very peculiar is going on and I am note sure if it is with the remote (about 100 metres away from me) or with Bell or TekSavvy.

Speeds do improve after 1am but still not as good as when it was first installed at the end of March.

There seems to be a bottleneck somewhere and I don't think it is local to my residence or the hardware I am using.

I think the bottleneck is with Teksavvy. I posted some test data here: »[DSL] Peak-time congestion

So is Teksavvy doing anything about this?

I think you are correct and I hope they resolve this soon.

Thanks for the info.

They have been aware of this for over a month, with no action plan, no updates. They just thank you for your patience. This is turning out to be a flip-flop. Cable was at a stop sell for many months. Now, it is available again. Now DSL is congested.

The thing with the new Bell FTTH that is intriguing is that under the new speeds, they guarantee you will get that speed. (50mbps and above). I can't see many ISPs that can say that. Even Rogers.
I can barely get 16/5 on a 25/7 plan during peak times.
