Re: [DSL] Upgraded to 25/7, experiencing congestion

The download speed-time pattern matches perfectly the television prime time, 9pm-11pm.

Fibe TV in the works kicks the internet out of the way.

Btw,

What firmware again?

1.0.4.3EF-ISAM, the non-rebooting one. I even tried it in PPPoE mode risking the upgrade (to check speeds), but the friggin thing cant even update itself as it errors out connecting to the bell TR069 server.

TSI called me earlier, and patched me to a Bell tester. He said there should not be any reason why I couldnt get the full upload, distance is not an issue.

The test centre tech arranged a tech visit between 5-9pm tonight, to check out the line.

They also said there should not be any sort of congestion on that remote. As of now, there isn't any, so I hope he arrives a little later to see it for himself. I can test with Bell logins as well as tsi logins.

platoon, i didn't understand your post. did you mean they took me off the CO because my CO doesn't support ADSL2+ and only ADSL or they took me off because my CO doesn't support DSL2+ ?

I am confused. Did you see my stats for the DSL1 profile? Amazing no? I could easily stayed there and get full upstream, now I am on a buggy IKNS remote. I will show you my now stats, can you compare and let me know what you think? thanks

yes my bad, typo in the post. Most CO's are still only ADSL1 equipment. They would have had to move you to a remote to serve FTTN

Unless your 1 house away from the CO, you were never connected to it... Look at the attenuation.

I think you were always on the IKNS remote, but changed cards/ports. Anyway, IKNS works fine for me... Just the upload on ADSL2+ that is buggy.

IKNS with ADSL2+ and no VDLS2 don't have upload reading bug from my experience.

After looking closer, appears Kovy is correct. You were always on a remote, just got a new line card setup for adsl2+.

Well, the bell guy came by, he tested the line with his meter, he said its good, the distance showed 360M, which he said was no problem. at 4800 sync it showed 50% capacity on his meter. Problem is his phone died and he couldnt call the test center to change the profile.

He left me his number and said he'll call me at around 9pm, he'll get them to change the profile and see what it reads...

One interesting thing he said... The Cellpipes absolutely suck, and caused nothing but problems, hence why Bell switched to the Sagemcoms.

He said they dont even carry cellpipes in the truck, he showed me all he had was the new ones, which wont even work on wholesale as it has a walled garden of some sort that you need to enter your b1 login for it to "activate". That's the way I understood it.

He said the cellpipe modem may be bad with regard to the upload speed issue, and that it may need to be replaced. He said if the speed profile wont work tonight, he'll come tomorrow to change the port on the remote.

Well I think you got not a so good tech... I'm suspecting he did nothing at all, hopefully he will comeback tomorow.

Samgecom works with wholesales just as much as a Cellpipe... They all have wallgarden features... like the 2wire. Which we all know if you put a wholesales user ID in the modem it will not go to wallgarden page.

I had 7mbps upload on my Cellpipe, but had the old stinger firmware.

Yeah he said if the modem needs to be replaced i'll have to go thru TekSavvy.

But the upload occupancy was an eye opener, 50% on his test meter, and 80% on the cellpipe as reported by TekSavvy.

Edit, 83% actually.

Got the same thing, first tech (Bell) came at around 1h30 pm. Unblock the line and all, plug the modem in and I put my user name and pass: Boom! 25mbps and 5mbps upload. Everything seems good!

Then the other tech (Telecon) came at 5 pm. All he did is take off the old phone line and replace it with his pots splitter. Test connection, 25mbps and 3mbps upload!? What? Is it because the second tech messed up something or because of bell traffic after 5pm or something, it becomes slow? Anything TekSavvy can do to get that 7mbps upload?

Those test meters usually report higher results... not sure why, the guy should of tested with his bell modems and laptop... but I bet he didn't do that which would of been the obvious eye opener...

You have firmware for a 7330.

Get a STINGER firmware.
