$500 or MRDVR for life?

I am moving and as part of moving I have a new contract.

With this contract are various offers, one offer is a $500 prepaid VISA gift card. The other is a MRDVR ($19.99/month) for life. Now of course the payback period of the MRDVR for life vs the $500 cars is 25 months.

The question I have is, will I run into a 'catch' or anything with the MRDVR for life, like if I change something on my contract or there's a new box that comes out, will I be stuck with mine?

If so, then I would go with the $500, but I know the MRDVR could end up being more profitable in the long run, as long as I don't lose it.

I got the 500 gift card myself. I used it for many other things that I found more valuable than a free dvr. It helped pay for a lot of moving expense necessities for me.

That's what I am thinking, since I am 'moving up' also spending a lot of cash on closing costs. The $500 up front could cover a lot of those ancillary costs from moving.

Did you move or get new service? If you moved, did you keep your boxes? I am only moving within the township so it's not a far move, wouldn't want to fight over my 7232's

If you are looking for long run savings, get the $20.00 credit

I moved from an area that didn't have FIOS, so it was totally new to me.
