Re: 8x4 bonding in Mississauga

Be patient I had 4/1 all day yesterday
See Here then See Here

FYI, just in case you get anxious. There is NO need to 'restart' your modem. The CMTS will do that anyways during its light show, just be patient, it could take 5 mins, it could take 30 mins. Mine took 45.

When its all said and done, and you go to check your logs DO NOT be Alarmed, OK. It might look scarry but its really not. And I do have a "half baked" explanation for it if you really need to know. Just remember I'm not a network engineer, and while my 'concept' of what the logs are 'speaking' of might make some sense, its not fact, but a good guestimate on my part.

I *might* do a writeup on my blawg and linkback here someplace, and let the actual network engineers hack it to pieces cause I'm pretty sure while I have the basic idea, I'm still a coupple strips of bacon short. And those in the actual know will just nod and agree because it will nullify the average couch potato chip's anxiety attacks at scarry cable modem logs.

Actually, you know what. TSI has a blog - TSI also has actual network engineers right? lessee 2+2 = ___ Sounds like an excuse to put someone to work on a TSI Blog post, who can explain in laymans terms what goes on between the CMTS and the CM that results in those mysterious logs that no one seem to have a f'clue really mean. It could in turn relax the customer base and there would be less needless manual rebooting of the units unless so directed by a TSI Agent for those spechul cases eh?

the same "engineers" that tell people with UPS to plug their modem into the wall for "moar power(TM)" or swap their cable modems or other "wise" ideas...

Try not to confuse network engineers with CSR's M'kay.

You see there is only one constant. One universal. It is the only real truth. Causality. Action, reaction. Cause and effect.
