[Cable] Cable activation backlog (Videotron, Quebec)

I was wondering whether a lot of new TSI/Ebox/Acanac cable subscribers on the Videotron network (Quebec) experience the same problem with their promised activation date. In my case, I ordered 30 M from TSI (switch from Ebox 8M) on February 25th to be activated on March 12. At that time everything seemed to be fine, however, came March 12 and suddenly I was w/o internet: Ebox cut, TSI not yet activated. New anticipated activation date March 19/20.
Looks like the weather is more predictable.

I'm also waiting. They have no concrete date to give me at this time, only vague "around this date".

Thankfully, in my case I'm currently on DSL, and I ain't cancelling that until cable is up, running, and proven stable.

EDIT: overall, I'm looking at a 3 weeks wait between the initial order and the potential activation.

I had one of my family members cable activated last Saturday with Electronic Box. It took exactly 8 days from the order date.

From the Acanac forum I don't think they are currently processing orders for the new speeds yet, it seems to have been delayed multiple times.

Correct me if i'm wrong...

I read somewhere that Videotron's TPIA department is overwhelmed by all the new sign ups.

I'm in the same boat and I am beginning to be annoyed.

I ordered the cable (videotron network) internet service on february 29. I was told the activation would be on march 5th.

it is now march 15 and TSI still can't tell me when I will get the cable activated.

Other people in the same (new) building got Videotron activated in less than a week, so Videotron doesn't seem to be "overwhelmed by new activations" when it comes to their own customers.

Doesn't TSI have any control on this whatsoever? I'm starting to wonder how things will be when there's some real problem with the service, will I have to wait weeks/months until videotron actually does something because I'm with TSI instead of directly with videotron?

Victor, if you wouldn't mind sending me a PM with your info & I'll look at the order for you. It should of been processed by now. You can PM using this : TSI Martin See Profile

Videotron has a dedicated team doing the wholesale orders. They've been very busy as of late & lost one of their agents recently. They've been working very hard to keep pace with the demand.

Do you think VL gives a sh*t about TPIA customers?

They should. Because in the end, they end up getting money from TSI for these customers - customers that might otherwise be with, say, Bell. In which case VL would get zero.

What I do not understand about that backlog is that here in "Outaouais" the main company doing installation, Instech, is actually under utilised right now. 2 Colleagues bought TSi Cable and both have been waiting for their activation and both were given later date. One of them is monday.

A friend of mine works at Instech and was telling me that it's so quiet that one of his co-worker had one job on thursday the 15th and had nothing else. For him he was asked to stay home.

This to my eyes is very strange...

Well, it is March 18, and I still haven't got confirmation for the install tomorrow. Almost 1 month has passed after order !

Ordered on the 9th March still no installation date.

Have bell till the end of this week, does anyone know if I can call them and give them a new 30 days notice from today's date?

Thanks,

I'm in the same situation. I actually ordered it on the 2nd and still nothing. I am thinking on calling Bell to extend anotehr 30 days as well.

Very reassuring... I really want to dump colbanet as soon as possible, but cable seems to be a gamble.

Ordered on the 02/22, scheduled for the 03/06 or 03/07. Still nothing. No calls.

Oh, and the for the one that was supposed to be today, Instech came this morning. Installed the cable line. Can't get an IP. On his original order form, the modem has not been registered (Serial / MAC). Mine is the same deal, so I guess, I'll have that problem as well.

Weird... I just got an e-mail. Install date on the 03/28.
Interestingly, there's an error on what they sent me. It says the modem is a Moto 5110N... I got a 6120. On my original order form, there was no Serial or MAC. I have a feeling, this will end up like my buddy this morning.

In January, I had videotron come and install coax drops in my basement and splitter. I already have cable tv with them. The splitter is 2-ft from where the cable modem is to be hooked up. Other than cutting/crimping me a piece of coax-cable, I don't know what the videotron guy will do.

They should...
Especially if those new customer comes from Bell TPIA land.
They get arround 20$/mnt for the customer's connection and 1800$+/100MBPS of capacity. Oh tack on to the the install fee... They make money off of that if they don't have anything to do.

Same here. It says SB5101N on my email too while I got a 6120. I doubt it will be a problem. Let's see!
