Re: [DSL] Cellpipe random reboots / loss of sync (Check logs ple Sure but if the modem does exhibit the reboot issue with the same apparent frequency (hard to judge given how random it is) with no line attached then I would suggest fixing that first would be both prudent and easiest. Start with that and them move on to whatever remaining issues there may be.
I always try to address the most obvious issues first.
Having now been on the Zyxel modem for almost two weeks with no modem related issues I can say with a fair degree of certainty that the cellpipe also has issues with losing sync (which is seen in the logs but not with the same frequency as the reboots). So you are likely right that there are several issues going on in the code. As I stated somewhere near the start of this (now becoming epic) thread, there is no point even trying to isolate such issues until the more obvious ones are taken care of. Deal with the simplest test case first.
ALU (Alcatel-Lucent) should be embarrassed that this firmware made it out the door. Who knows what is going on behind the scenes but I sure hope someone somewhere learns something from this.
I also still think that TSI should be screaming at the Bell/CRTC/Industry Canada over this. How can Bell get away with giving these things out to wholesalers (and charging for them) when they give out a different modem to their own customers. |

This firmware v1.0.4.4R3WH is for a 7330 remote and is flawed, will not work with the Stinger remote (I'm on a Stinger),
This firmware v1.0.4.3EF-STINGER is what I had before and it works when I connect it after disconnects with v1.0.4.4R3WH,
Seems to me 2 issues;
1. bad hardware (constant reboots connected or not),
2. deliberately using wrong firmware for the remote,
I used v1.0.4.3EF-STINGER for 6 months without issue and then move (within same building) and get a new modem with v1.0.4.4R3WH that has sporadic connection problems (no reboots). |

 | reply to Phibian said by marknotmarc:does not even have to be connected to a phone line to reboot. Yup. My friend has confirmed this too. Completely unplugged, it still randomly reboots with that firmware.
said by swiftex:You are in Ottawa so in all likelihood you are on a 7330 remote which v1.0.4.4R3WH is optimized for. I'm really confused as to why they aren't just given 1.0.4.3EF-ISAM, since that's also optimized to the 7330 remote, and is actually stable.
said by QuantumPimp:Bell may not be licensed to deploy 1.0.4.3EF-ISAM. Well, they'd been using it for quite some time.

I was getting sync issues despite excellent line stats, when I had my modem far away from the demarc, connected by CAT6. (That CAT6 worked perfectly for Gigabit Ethernet at max speed.) The sync issues went away when I put my Cellpipe (1.0.4.3EF-Stinger) right next to the demarc. -- Everything Apple |

| Both modems (Zyxel and cellpipe) were in the same location. Zyxel has no problems at all. No reboots, no loss of sync. Cellpipe has both issues. In my case I'm extremely close to the demarc point. Maybe 10ft of cable (which is nice and new). Line stats are excellent as well.
Given that the Zyxel works fine I'm blaming the cellpipe not the wiring. |

 | No I haven't checked back yet. From the site it looks like there are a bunch of us waiting for them (the backorder qty keeps growing...) |

Mind you, while my Cellpipe is fine close to the demarc, as I mentioned it isn't as good far away. I wonder how the ZyXel would do in my home office.

Comes to just under $160 shipped from an Ottawa retailer (»www.shoprbc.com/ca/shop/product_···id=80230) for the device that (should) work with 7330 and does NOT have WiFi. |
