The store was updated. I think they're just putting up the splash page until traffic dies off a bit to prevent the servers from crashing again.
I got as far as selecting a model the first time the order page went live.

kudos:6 | Yes, but around 11:40 PST, the store was actually online and had the new iPad available for sale. That only lasted a few minutes. So the site was ready to go, the demand just killed the servers.
