Re: [Poll]Initial reaction to new iPad It has to be sucking down so much power for the screen. I have this plugged in to AC and just web browsing and it's losing battery.

I set it to wifi only and it's still bleeding... |

I'm confident that you are aware of all of this, but I just wanted to point out that at least one person's new iPad will charge when plugged in and turned on.
Maybe your cable or charger is not working correctly? Could they have put the wrong charger in your iPad box? |

| reply to haroldo I started playing with mine at 9 AM and it is now midnight and I am down to 1% (I like to fully discharge new devices before the first charge). Granted, I did have to get some work done today but I spent plenty of time browsing the web and downloading apps with 4G LTE. Pretty impressive battery life IMO.

Went to the Apple Store Was playing around with the new iPad at my local Apple Store fore about an hour, during which time the battery went from 76% to 73% (while remaining plugged in of course.) Also it got pretty warm on the underside. Later I snooped around to see how the other unattended display models were holding up, and found a range from 60% down to 14% charged. All the units were set to maximum brightness, whereas Apple runs their own tests set between 70% and 50%, IIRC. I'll leave the analysis to you guys.
BTW, Safari looked kinda different on the new iPad, had a charcoal theme rather than silver, so am assuming it is not the same version as included on the recently released iOS 5.1 for the first two generations? |

| reply to haroldo Battery life is unbelievable on this thing. I fully discharged it yesterday, then gave it a full charge overnight and fired it up at 8 this morning. I had to work for 3 hours today but have pretty much been surfing on it all day and all night besides my work time, cooking supper and jumping on my desktop for about a half hour. It is right at 2 am and I still have 38% battery left. Very impressive. -- HN7000S 117 West 1090 WRT54G XPpro/Debian Sarge

CescoElectronic Box n00bPremium join:2009-01-28 Montreal, QC | reply to haroldo Still using iPad2, think I'll skip this new version but wanted to pass on this tip to save a bit of batt. power. If you're not using LTE while at home, switch on Airport mode and then log back into your wifi network. This prevents the cellular antenna from wasting battery by searching for a signal. |
