Not only to their freinds or co workers, they also open up web stores where they sell technet keys for $15-$30 per key. |

I don't think its a matter of knowing where the keys came from. These keys are full license keys with no expiration. The only thing stupid are the people who buy these keys. There is nothing preventing me from reregistering the key after it has been sold and burning the person who bought it. -- My domain - Nightfall.net |

tcgPremium join:2003-09-12 Lubbock, TX | No, they're retail keys with no license for general use. The use of the key would raise no flags. But the sale of, in a setting such as a website, would. |

Is it technically feasible to catch me? I don't know. Is it likely someone will bother to come after me? Probably not. Can they invalidate my keys? Maybe, maybe not.
Still, if you're intent on reselling Technet keys to make money, you'd probably register the subscription in a fake name in the first place.

I would never sell my keys as I am greedy.
That being said, there are a mix of N keys and full license keys. For example, in my Technet...
Windows 7 Home Premium and Home Premium K Windows 7 Home Premium N and KN
These are full license keys though. As long as only one household is using them, Microsoft isn't going to care. -- My domain - Nightfall.net |

But even if you subscribe with a fake name to resell the keys, you've got to pay for the subscription somehow. |

"K", "N" and "KN" have nothing whatsoever to do with licensing. "K" is the regular version of the OS, "N" and "KN" are localised versions that do not include Windows Media Player so Microsoft can comply with some countries anti-trust rulings.
As tcg mentioned, ALL Technet license keys are licensed ONLY for the Technet subscriber's use in non-operational environments. |

davePremium,MVM join:2000-05-04 not in ohio kudos:8 | Did I say that? Hold on, I must have screwed up.
EDIT: I sure did say that, but I equally surely didn't intend it. Maybe I meant 'MSDN' and my fingers did something different.
I vaguely recall typing 'license' and then going back to turn it to 'key' for accuracy, so maybe I fouled up that edit and didn't check.
Anyway, you are of course correct. |
