 | [WIN7] BSOD in Windows 7 Ultimate, can't enter safe mode Today I installed a new driver straight from the manufacturer, and Windows didn't like it, so I tried to uninstall it. It froze and wouldn't completely finish uninstalling, so I terminated it and rebooted. The result was a blue screen. I tried to enter safe mode using F8, but it failed to enter safe mode (it also blue screened). I tried startup repair from my Windows 7 disc, but startup repair failed to detect any problems.
Can anyone please help? All I can do is enter the command prompt from my Windows disc's list of system recovery options, but I don't know what to do. There is a perfectly good installation of Windows waiting for me to clean out the offending driver...if I can only get to it somehow. I could reformat, but I would rather not spend days setting up everything again. Please help! |

 | Here's an update on the situation based on what I have tried:
chkdsk found no bad hard drive sectors
All my files are still completely readable. I know this because when I randomly chose to try to load drivers (it was an option when I inserted the Windows 7 disc), I was allowed to browse, and I could see all my files perfectly intact. However, all I can do is look.
sfc /scannow found no problems
I reset all my BIOS settings to default. Same problem. |

| reply to bsodnightmar What manufacture did the drive come from, for what piece of hardware.
You could try Startup Repair, and Ive heard you run it three time.
Then if and when you get your system working again get a drive imaging program and make regular images so you don't have to go through this again. -- Shooter Ready--Stand By BEEP ******** |

 | reply to bsodnightmar I would say boot from your 7 disk if you don't have the "Repair your computer" under the F8 menu.
From there, try running a restore to before you loaded the drivers. I'd even say go back a day or 2 before that and try it. With luck, that will fix it. |
