Re: [TWC] spring cleaning early That is good a tech will visit. I did not see any notation in your threads about which modem you have. Perhaps one of the experienced people in this thread can comment on what to expect during the tech visit and how to prepare to change out a modem or other equipment. A tech visit is always interesting. |

 | reply to horseshoe My modem is a Motorola SB6580 DOCSIS 3 cable modem, Tech called back to let me know that there was power "Dips" during latency spikes, so he assumes the cable modem is faulty in that regards. |

UPDATE: Omgz i haz speed now! so after a week of just plan calling back and getting "Not our fault, we'll keep monitoring it" it seems it wasn't their fault, seems a major branch on like the exit connection to their backbone had seiverly been dropping packets 35-50 percent packet loss. They switched some settings around, bam 25 mbps, i'm like okay, i'll try something else, reset winsock (Windows 7 hates winsock) BAM 31mpbs consistant FLAWLESS VICTORY! I wanna thank TWCablePaulS for all his help in this (Just happy i got my interwebs working!) |

 | xwaretech, That is great news, and encouraging as well that the direct forum was able to help intervene. The direct forum and regulars here in this forum are most patient and helpful with tech snafu's like this. Looks like your 6580 performs as it is supposed to... |

| they did help alot, but i got a service tech coming out wed to check the lines, T3 guys say that there is some "electrical" interference causing some drops and dips, they just want to make sure, i'm getting 25-30 during times, but sometimes it goes haywire and drops back down to 5-8mbps. So they want to make sure. I think it's the modem, it's a crap gateway, i just want a damn modem, have a router, don't need the combo! |
|
 | xwaretech, I thought you said your modem a few replies above this one was a 6580. Which gateway is it? |

| it is a gateway, the SB6580 is a "Gateway" modem aka combo modem, router + modem combined, now the other version of it the SB6121 is the one i want, yet TWC says they are "Still testing" this model yet it's on the approved list for my area, should I just go out an buy it from say best buy? |

 | Oh well, either term, Cali or West is a dead link. Will go with your assumption of same devices applicable. |
