So what to put instead? I don't have anything at the moment but it would be nice to let people know somehow when my emails are brief and crudely typed/formatted because I replied on my phone. |

Re: [Rant] Lame default email signatures I find the people who will not put the damn things down to have a conversation or participate in an activity even more infuriating. And, as for the folks who use them while driving, I wish they all would get into accidents and find out just what asses they are.

 | reply to M A R S The IPad sig was ok...for the first couple of times. Then it was somewhat annoying. So I experimented. Sent from the Hoth Ice Moon. Sent from my VIC-20. Sent from somewhere in the Black Hills of South Dakota. This ain't Kansas, and you ain't Aunty Em. Where the hell am I? |

Nowadays, you can't presume, but a few years ago the assumption was that office email came from the computer in the office.

| but it has morphed to more than that. it's no longer just that. it's a way for people to indicate what device they are using. a way to brag about what special rom they are running. or a way to indicate they like devices shiny logos yet limited functionality.
i have my sig set on my work blackberry to just say "sent from bb". a lot of people i work with have theirs say "please excuse the brevity and any grammatical errors as this was sent using my black berry device." i see that and i'm all wtf! the signature is longer than their entire response.
i've considered removing it entirely but it does serve the purpose of letting the recipient know that i'm not at my computer, just on my phone. this is helpful if they were expecting me to review a spreadsheet or other document. |

| When I got my current phone last year its default sig was "Sent from my Verizon Wireless device." I changed that to "Sent from my dinky phone so keep your shirt on." Some people have actually asked "is Dinky better than [brand name]?" <facepalm /> -- "Dance like the photo isn't being tagged; love like you've never been unfriended; and tweet like nobody is following." |
