Re: Avast 7 installs Chrome Caffeinator - I'm one of those chickens who wait to update a program until it seems more stable, and also manually update Avast!'s virus defs daily. Not sure which day it was last week when I was notified of v7.x available and as usual chose not to upgrade yet after checking the Avast! forums out.
However, I did update the virus defs with no incident and that evening shut the computer down. When I booted the next morning much to my surprise Avast! stopped the booting process and flagged a small network activity indicator program I've been running for years saying it was suspicious. Did give me an option to let it run and remember to ignore in the future so no big deal.
Point is the defs did something similar flagging my network program running v6.x as 7.x did to your programs.
As far as installing Chrome or any other third party program without specific and verified consent is BS. Not just Avast! doing it as we all know and really can mess up people's machines.
BTW, been using Avast! for years and I am a fan. However, there have recently been a couple of virus defs that wreaked havoc before they were caught and now this Chrome thing so I will be watching closely.
