I can see using an iPhone for taking photos, but how often do you use an iPad to take pictures? Seems a bit awkward, no? (I'd hate to be a kid in a school play and see my dad holding up his iPad to his face to take a picture.)

Well, at least the PlayBook takes decent pictures, unlike the crap that the iPad 2 does...having had both, I will also say program management is way better on PlayBook. Apple needs to change the way you close programs instead of it needing to be a chore to do so.

Yep. I have an iPhone 4S and my wife has the iPhone 4. Besides mine being a 64GB model (and Siri), I don't notice a real speed difference, a quality difference in the camera, etc, even though those things were improved.

To be honest, the incremental changes in a refresh (such as the 4 to the 4S) wouldn't have appealed to me to upgrade, except that I wanted the 64GB model. :)

Oh, I read the thread. I have never seen that kind of performance on an iPad. Certainly not on an iPad2. I have seen it on my tegra2 android tablet running honeycomb.

Well, as others have reported too, I have. It's not frequent but occasionally I'll get a several second delay when I'm typing in an address bar or email. Tends to happen most with Safari for me. I have also had a number of instances of my iPad2 becoming non-responsive for 5-10 seconds or so.

Have tried closing some of your apps. If you never do and never reboot it that can happen. Just double tap the home button. Then, press and hold the app you want to close. You will get a minus in the upper left.

Only an insider at Apple can answer that, but they did lower iPad prices when iPad2 came out. However, that's because iPad2 and iPad were the same sized devices. If, however, iPad3 is smaller (who knows?) then there'd be no incentive for them to reduce iPad2...since it will then compete with iPad3. I disagree. I have that issue, but not as bad. I think it's either something in the OS like a memory leak, or it's an app that's not functioning properly and doing it's own job on the memory.

Sounds like my iPhone 3G back in the day. The iPad 2 is wicked fast compared to the iPad 1 and the iPad 3 will be even faster. If you're worried, just go down to an Apple store once they have demos and see how well (or not) it works.

Have you tried restoring the iPad and doing those tasks after setting it up as a new iPad with nothing other than core apps installed? You might notice an improvement. Start installing your apps back in small groups and you might be able to spot the culprit. YMMV.

The CPU isn't nearly as important as the GPU is these days. The iPad2/iPhone4s GPU is the PowerVR SGX 543MP2, a monster that is 7 times faster in various benchmarks than the original iPad, and it just completely obliterated all the other Android offerings at the time. The new PlayStation Vita, the most powerful portable gaming unit has a quad core ARM 9 CPU, with a SGX543MP4+ GPU. That's only one step higher in the iPad2 GPU and the CPU spec and it's not even the ARM Cortex 15. Look at what the GPU in the iPad 3 is. That's more important than the CPU!
