Re: [Other] going to voip for home phone A coworker of mine just ordered a PAP2T-NA from some seller in Hong Kong for $27. Free shipping to Canada. I told him that could not possibly be legit. The seller did seem to have overwhelmingly positive feedback, so I don't know. He only ordered it last week and it'll take at least three weeks for him to get it. |

said by Trev:The Linksys/Cisco logo has been photo shopped off this unit in more than one photo... looks scammy to me. Indeed! And the seller lists 33.67 with free shipping from Los Angeles. However, the SAME seller has another listing, AGAIN with the Linksys logo photoshopped off, in which the price is listed as 28.00 plus 2.00 shipping from Hong Kong. The listing is identical otherwise! » www.ebay.com/itm/UNLOCKED-LINKSY···bbe07d91------------------ That's not the way I'd go! What reason could there be to remove the logo? Do they make a Chinese version of the logo? Could that be why it was removed? |

Keep in mind with OBi you can setup up to 8 gateways. So you can have 2 SIP accounts(or 1 SIP and 1 GV) for incoming/outgoing and other 8 SIP providers just for outgoing so you might not need another adapter. |
|
 | I did not know it could do that many outgoing sip connections the main reason for getting another is I like to play around with stuff. The one I have now runs our man home phone so it will need to be available at all times. BTW a crazy thought can you mod your outbound caller id I ask because I made a call through SP2 I actually called my cell phone and the number that was displayed was a 984 area code I'm not in 984. So can I make sp2 show my main google voice number for caller id instead of a dummy number that Anveo displays. |

As long as the SIP provider allows outgoing calls with registration, then the answer is yes!

So can I make sp2 show my main google voice number for caller id instead of a dummy number that Anveo displays. Log into your Anveo account and click on : SIP Status (delayed): Details and then Caller ID Numbers on the left, followed by entering Name, Country and the Number you want to show as your caller ID. A call will be placed to that number with a need for a verification code. There is a charge for that outgoing call to the GV Number. |
|
 | Thanks for the info I remember when I tested this with 911 my address showed up fine but my phone number showed up as a New York number. The 911 rep gave me the number and I was able to call that number from my cell and of course the phone rang here at my desk. However, with that said I would still like for the outbound to display google voice info when calling through Anveo. |

After you have your Google Voice number verified you will need to open »www.anveo.com/accountPreferences···nces.sip and select your Google Voice number in the "Outbound CallerID" dropdown box. Click the UPDATE button when done. |

| reply to watts3000 said by watts3000:I could buy another Obi I looked at price you can grab the PAP2T-NA off of ebay for around 33.00. However, I will consider just ordering another Obi off of Amazon. I've bought unlocked SPA2102s, PAP2Ts and SPA1001s from eBay without issue and for about half the price of the Obi110. I just look for the people who are in the VOIP business and are selling adapters that they've decommissioned. Not that I've got anything against Obi, it's just that I'm not planning on using Google Voice and I'm cheap.
Currently there are used, unlocked SPA1001s on eBay for $16.99 plus $3.50 shipping. The SPA1001 is basically a one port PAP2(T). |

Buying it directly from Amazon shouldn't be a problem - unless Amazon got a shady supplier, which is possible but not likely. Beside, they have first-class customer service, so if you have a problem with something you bought, they usually make it pain-free to resolve the issue. |

I'd much rather deal with Amazon customer service than eBay customer service! |

As far as I can tell, there are no PAP2Ts on Amazon, except for those sold by 3rd parties. The first four PAP2 sellers (for example) are "Triplenet Pricing," "ApexSuppliers," "GU CHENG" (capitalized like that on Amazon) and "FlyTec Computers." And SPA2102s have the same sellers, plus a couple others, but none directly from Amazon. |

Seriously, a year ago I wouldn't have any trouble going with Google Voice -- but I'm not quite as sold on Google as I used to be. (And I realize the OBi ATAs will work with more than Google Voice -- it's just that, for what I do, the Linksys ATAs work fine.) |

I have nothing against "old" adapters and I've used many ex-Vonage, all working fine but if I compare a new PAP2T let's say from voipsupply ($49.99) with a new OBi100 from Amazon ($43.99) it's like buying a car designed 10 years ago against one designed last year, even though the 1st car has 0 miles because was in the storage all those years. |

I've heard nothing but good things about OBi ATAs -- but I'm the one who drives the old car "because it gets me where I need to go." And I don't buy full priced, new Linksys ATAs either. The most I've spent is about $25 (including shipping) for an SPA2102. If I were in business it would probably be a different thing -- but I can buy a Linksys SPA1001 for $21 (including shipping), from an outfit I've bought from before and trust, or even a lot of ten of these for $149 plus $15 s/h. That's about the cost of three OBIs. (This guy is located in Fairview, VA -- so I'm guessing he's unlocking Vonage ATAs.) |

They seem to have changed the way they list the pricing details, so I assumed that the "Buy New" with the price in a bigger font was from Amazon, but it's not. |

 | reply to watts3000 First off rblizz why are you not sold on Google anymore I'm curious to hear your thoughts also you state your supplier is in Fairview, VA is this an Ebay seller or a regualar vendor website? Ok guys I want to bring up the Obi110 being able to handle 8 gateways I did not know this but Dan_voip made me a where of it. Ok has anyone here did this before and how exactly is this configured for example let's say I have Google voice and Anveo for inbound outbound but I want to add Voip.ms and Callcentric as outgoing sip providers. Also I assume that in order for this to work you would have to prefix the phone number so that the obi knows to send the call over that specific gateway. |

Also I assume that in order for this to work you would have to prefix the phone number so that the obi knows to send the call over that specific gateway. Yes, you can setup VOIP.ms and Callcentric on any of the Gateway accounts and you will have to place a call to a specific gateway by dialing:
**3 XXXXXXXXXX to send the call through Gateway 3 for example. You can setup the DigitMap to automatically route certain calls to specific Gateway Account. So you can choose to send all calls to area code 201 via Gateway 3 (VOIP.ms)and all calls to area code 914 through Gateway 4 (Callcentric). You can also send all international calls through Gateway 5 which is setup for provider CallWithUs. Additionally, you can send all 800/888/855/877 toll free calls though one of the free Toll Free providers (e.g., sip.tollfreegateway.com).
The OBi has 3 Trunk Groups also, but that is another feature the OBi ATA provides. If you have OBi specific questions or need to know more, head over to their Forum:
