KooperPremium join:2012-02-20 Union, NJ | [Northeast] Just upgraded from 35/35 to 150/35 but not seeing my Hi all,
I just upgraded from 35/35 to 150/35. I had the 35/35 since somewhere in 2009 when fios was first available in my area.
I just upgraded my account to 150/35 and have been doing some speed tests. However I only seem to be getting about 70~ area/35
Any idea what could be the cause of this? This is only day one of my upgrade if that has any bearing.
1) I am not using the original fios router (I am using a Netgear WNDR3700 v2 on DD-WRT)
2) connected to my ONT via CAT5
3) Nobody has or is scheduled to come out to perform any kind of physical service.
I was doing some reading on this speed upgrade and apparently people were getting their ONTs replaced for it? Was curious if that may have any impact as I would have whatever would've been installed in 09' time frame.
Let me know how I should proceed with the investigation and thanks to all. |

| reply to Kooper There should be a hinged door that swings open left, the serial should be printed inside possibly on a sticker. My ONT on the 150mb plan is the Motorola 1500GT which looks like:

Yours may look different depending on the model of ONT but you be able to find a model number or at least manufacturer. |

not @comcast.net | Bypass your router and see what you get. Also make sure the CAT5 cable between your ONT and the next device is at least CAT5e. And keep in mind that some places you do a speedtest from may not be able to hit 100+ Mbps test speeds (taking the route from you to them into account). If all tests out fine without the router in place, then do the test again plugged into the router... don't test via WIFI across the router... that'll never get you the 100+ speeds you're looking for no matter what... not across that 3700 anyway. |

Look beneath the odd screw, you should see a regular slotted screw that will open the customer portion. -- There are 10 kinds of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't.

You need to make sure you are hardwired to the router to run your speedtests. You may also need to re-run the speed optimizer. If you still don't get the full download after that, you may have an issue with your ethernet cable from the ont causing the connection to down shift to 100mb rather than gigabit.
Oh yeah, not that it really needs to be said, but I'll say it anyways....your PC needs to have a gigabit nic in it. |
