Uverse killed wireless printers, but I fixed them

We had Uverse internet and voice installed yesterday. I edited the RG a bit. Same SSID, different authentication and key. All went well, until I tried to print to either of two Brother wireless printers with static IPs - they didn't print, and I couldn't access the web interface any longer. The authentication and key were stored in the printers, wrong for the current network. AT&T support chat was useless (check with the printer manufacturer), so I downloaded manuals, researched, and I reset each printer to factory defaults and reinstalled on various computers. Not difficult, once I took the plunge. Maybe someone knows an easier way, but this one worked. FWIW to any experiencing the same problem.

You could have changed the rg ip subnet, dhcp pool, ssid and key to match the other router

That's what I did and I didn't have any problems all with our wireless printers. Very simple and painless procedure.

Small correction... Uverse didn't break anything. You did. It's not AT&T's job to reprogram all the wireless/wired devices in your house. That's your job.

If you've forgotten how to setup the printer(s), that's your problem; AT&T cannot be expected to know how to setup every wireless printer ever made. Every one I've seen has to be wired (ethernet, usb, etc.) to (re)configure the WiFi settings. If you're lucky, the printer has a web management interface -- otherwise it takes a proprietary application to configure. [I don't know how old your stuff is.]

You are absolutely correct, and I realize that. But the purpose of my post was to help anyone in the same position who might not get help from AT&T support. My solution wasn't elegant, but it got me back up.

Thank you, but I wasn't smart enough technically to do that. My inelegant solution got me back up, and I'm happy now. My goal was to post to help those not technically adept if they should face the same situation.

Granted, but your subject (which is what people see first) says something different.
