SBG6580 and Line Monitoring

I have been using line monitoring here for a few years now.

When I got my new SBG6580 a month or so ago, I noticed that it wasn't responding to external pings from the monitoring service.

I've searched, and can find nothing about this. I've tried turning on and off the various options for Firewall, but nothing seemed to let me respond to a ping.

Is there any way to do this?

Make sure you are not blocking "Anonymous Internet Requests" via your router.

I posted here in the Motorola forum hoping that someone could help me with the specific gateway model I have.

The users manual for this unit is the most pathetic thing I've ever seen. I've been too busy to take time to figure it out, and now that i have, it is too late to return it for something better.

I should'a listened to the guy at Fry's that tried to steer me away from it.

There is a "WAN Blocking" setting that the terse help page seems to indicate makes you "invisible" to outside requests. So I guess that means it doesn't respond to pings. That seems to have done the trick. Thanks for the help!

I'm glad you got it working now.
