Motorola 1000M vs Alcatel ONT, we have M, should I be con..

concerned? We have the Motorola 1000M. Is this an older, problem ONT? vs Alcatel?

We have brand new Business service in central NJ 35/35. No TV. We're going to swap out the Actiontec for a Cisco ASA 5505. 13 static IPs. Some NATs, some forwarding, etc.

If we need to get verizon to give us the new Alcatel now would be the time to do it since we're new and still setting up.

Any comments would be appreciated !
John

Which ONT you get is determined by whether you're on BPON or GPON.
»Verizon Online FiOS FAQ »What are the different models of ONTs?

The only ONT which has an issue with 35/35 speeds is the Tellabs 610 which is no longer being deployed.

You have nothing to worry about with the Motorola 1000-M.

Shouldn't be concerned. Also pretty sure Motorola or Alcatel ONT (atleast for GPON) matters depending on area and equipment at the CO so if your in an area that uses motorola ONT's then u will never get alcatel. Not 100% sure on this though.
