I'm running windows home server on my home network. I use its remote web access all the time over 443. I've now noticed that I can't seem to get to the site remotely. I can browse it from inside my network, the ports are forwarded on my router. This was working yesterday so I'm not sure what changed. The URL name does resolve to my RCN public IP so it doesn't seem to be a DNS issue. I'm getting an error that the host is taking too long to respond. Any ideas? I know port 80 is blocked -- is port 443 now blocked?

Port 443 is HTTPS and port 80 is HTTP. I assure you RCN isn't blocking those ports for two reasons:
A) My company has RCN as their provider and we have servers that use 80 AND 443.
B) If RCN filtered or blocked 443 you wouldn't be able to post here or view the web.
I've got a feeling it has to do with your windows firewall or home router. I'm leaning more towards windows firewall. |

Allentown, PA Sorry i should have added -- the blocked would be on inbound connections. 80 appears to be blocked by RCN for years (google seems to reveal that). I ran NMAP on myself when the host is up and it reports being able to get through on 443. The site is responding that its 'taking too long to respond' so maybe its something else... |

| Not Blocked, something has to be wrong on your end.
If it were blocked by RCN, I wouldn't get a connect.
