Re: Why Cogeco Subscribers are NOT Notified One simple step will insure that you receive your Cogeco usage details if you choose not to use cogeco email. You need to obtain your email address and password and login to webmail at my.cogeco.ca, once you have logged into this email you can then step up and automatic forward to any address you wish. This will only need to be done once.
There are two ways to monitor your usage, the proactive approach (setting up my account) and monitoring on a regular basis, or you have the option of the less proactive approach just waiting for an email to advise you that you have hit 85%.
These two options are very simple and should be very easy for any tech skill level. |

a) You can't configure a third-party address to receive these notifications to instead of having to rely on forwarding
b) Cogeco's notifications are spotty at best (unless it's related to billing :/) |

 | Here in Quebec the company has to mail you (snail mail) since they changed the consumers laws here a little bit ago.
Makes me wonder if Cogeco mailed their Quebec customers and didn't bother with the Ontario customers.
or if they just ignored Quebec consumer laws altogether and didn't bother for anyone?
As for an ISP email system. I only know a few who even bother with it. But Cogeco (unlike others) forces it upon you? I find that strange. |

At some point someone did look into it, but they never recurred. (I was making a point to knock it over to see if I got them - no.) On my account it doesn't matter as I rarely go over, and I don't pay overages. However, if this happens on one account it may happen on others. |

 | reply to got_milk I understand what the issue is.
This is how you solve it!
The notification system works for me every time. You just need to check the correct email or have the information sent to the email address you choose to use. It is a very simple system that would take all of 5 minutes to setup. |

What we have here is a clusterfuck of poorly considered/designed communications policies, and Cogeco's people do NOT proactively make sure that we know them when we start service with them !
It MIGHT be simple enough, IF THEY MADE A POINT OF TELLING US WITHOUT US KNOWING TO ASK !
How many times do I need to say it ?! |

I set up forwarding as noted above, but I found that the emails are not forwarded until I logged into my @cogeco.ca email address. Not the desired result. |

Not the desired result ! I did not know that THAT was necessary.
So do you mean that any emails which arrived after my last login into my Cogeco WebMail may only get forwarded if I log in once again there, or did I misunderstand your post.
Hey, we gotta iron all of the wrinkles out of this, as no official Cogeco CS nor Tech reps seem to be reading and posting in this forum, compared to how certain IISP reps post in other forums here.

There were quite a few Cogeco employees who posted often on their own time here, however, I do believe Cogeco quietly told them to stop. God forbid they'd want consumers to get a good image of their business! |

WTF you have to login into your web account so the emails forward? What kind of idiotic system is that? -- No, I didn't. Honest... I ran out of gas. I... I had a flat tire. What kind of idiotic system is that ? Only slightly moreso that what we have already been saying about it earlier in this thread.
I will go there now and check what's in my Cogeco box, as I have gotten no further FWDs since the first time that I set things up to FWD, at which point it forwarded several items which were already in the Cogeco box before I had set up the FWD.
I'll be BACK !

It's TRUE !
'Peterweb' is correct.
You HAVE to actually login to your Cogeco eMail account in order for any new messages in its inbox to get forwarded as per the rule which you set earlier.
Kind of (COMPLETELY, actually) defeats the main purpose of setting up the FWD in the first place, doesn't it ?!
2 messages, one from today, and another from several days ago, suddenly both appeared in the inbox of the external account which I had set as the FWD destination, as soon as I logged into my Cogeco WebMail interface.
Today's was my 85% usage warning, BTW, but I knew already as I had been checking the portal for that (which is a different login than my email, both available on the same 'My Cogeco' page).
Truly INSANE !
Is THIS a communications company ?
I say NOT !
Nice fast and reliable Internet (so far), but I cannot believe the reality of this BS !
Cogeco either REALLY DOES want us to be UNINFORMED about important things, or else they cannot find decent web programmers to hire !
