[Other] Sipgate Site and Support Problems

Hello all, new guy here. A somewhat frustrated new guy.

I've had sipgate running fine since May 2011 - with no issue. Hooked up to a linksys box and a desk phone.

I cannot get into the sipgate site to refresh my credit card data - card expired in December... so I can't make outgoing calls. (I forgot my sipgate password)

Password reset from their site isn't sending reset links to me - their billing department doesn't respond to (multiple)messages - and support@sipgate.com is non responsive.

Does anyone know if they are having problems internally or if there is another way to get a hold of someone there - who can help me with this rather trivial problem?

It's a shame - this has been going on for a week and a half. I love the service.. but they don't want my money it seems... so I'm starting to look for an alternative....

Thanks for your help if you have any.

Try support@support.sipgate.com, that is what is listed on their website.

You could try (512) 647-2000 and press "1" for tech support or "2" for billing.

I truly don't know if this will help or not, but couldn't hurt.

---------------------------

My impression is that Sipgate (a German company) is not emphasizing its US VoIP services right now.

They have had this notice posted for a LONG time now, for example:

Thank you for your interest in sipgate!

Due to the increased volume of new registrations within the last few weeks, we have unfortunately ran out of free numbers in your area and we are currently not able to offer you any alternative free phone number at the moment.

We have ordered a new batch of numbers which will be made available very soon but we're afraid we can't give you an exact time frame for this yet. Follow us on twitter and we will let you know when it will be possible to sign-up for an account with us again.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this.

HA!

They said "very soon".

It has been at least SEVERAL MONTHS!

It does NOT take that long to order numbers.

Further, their last meaningful Twitter post was a few months ago, ironically to a senior member of THIS forum.

Yup. Tried both the number for the accounting, and the proper support address... (typo in my post).

Thanks though folks.

Something else to add is that their support is based in Europe. You likely will not get a response until the middle of the night our time. Be as specific as possible to avoid delays. Their support is not their strength. However a password reset should not be so difficult.

Been a week and a half.. I guess I'm just posting here out of frustration.

Nope.. PW reset shouldn't be hard... sigh.

Thanks though.

And you are a PAYING customer!

Do they e-mail you statements, or how does that work?

Look, you could make Outbound calls using lots of different providers....CallCentric, Voip.MS, CallWithUs, FlowRoute....

It's Inbound that's harder.

Did you have a phone number (DID) with Sipgate?

You might want to try to port it while you can....

Not trying to spread FUD but if you cannot contact support or billing for 1.5 weeks, if their website says "be back real soon" and leaves that there for several months, it strongly suggests that there is no one at home.

For that matter, didn't they send you some sort of notice and instructions when your credit card was declined?

Like the machinery of the Krell in the pioneering 1956 SF film "Forbidden Planet" things are on autopilot!

Every time the account hits a certain balance, $5 lets say, the setup goes out to my CC for another $20... they email a pdf statement. Nice little arrangement.

I forgot to update sipgate for this card which expired in Dec. So what did they do when the ac ran out of money? They cut me off mid call. Nice.. I was working at the time.

I realized the error, and tried to get into the website. Idiot me forgot my PW.. and here I am today. LOL.

Surely someone HAS to be home over there.... right? Um... it can't just run itself. Or can it???

I suspect that the US operation does run itself.

The address listed in Austin TX is one of those quick-rent office places (Regus) where they rent offices by the hour, also serves as a mail drop.

Sipgate does have a corporeal existence in Germany, as you can see here:

When you emailed support, did you get a auto-responder with the "thank you for contacting support" email that has your ticket number in the subject line?
