Email Problems

Anyone in the NY area having email issues through Outlook today? I haven't been able to get any since last night. I can only get it by logging into the Verizon website. I changed my settings a few weeks ago per the email they sent, this is the first problem since.

Yes, problems here. I've been having some problems but it would always work. see »Flakiness Continues

Would not work at all today with the SSL settings. I went back to 25/110 and it works fine.

My email is down as well.... switching it to the "old" settings does not fix it for me.

Same here, previously changed to the new secure settings and mail is not working this morning. Went back to insecure settings and it is working.

Down here also.

Also on both settings.

Yup, down for me, too (north of Tampa).

Haven't bothered trying the old settings after reading some of the posts here.

Same problem here. Phone support said there was "a problem with the email & Verizon would call me when it had been resolved".
Removing the secure SSL settings restored my email.

All, there is a known POP email outage right now - Webmail/netmail works fine. No ETA at this time.

Second trace shows what the first should look like. My question is, where is the server farm located? 60ms puts it down in Florida somewhere.

This is getting ridiculous...

I have my email client (Eudora) set to check mail every 30 minutes on four accounts. I have overnight logs of failed connections since around 6 PM last night (01/05) on all four accounts. Now, as of 09:45 this AM, I get an error message of: "ERR Connection limit reached for your IP address" (whatever the hell that means) on all of them.

All these weird POP3 errors started, and have continued, for about 75% of the connection attempts since the idiots at V* implemented the new "security" changes in the port numbers for email. The connection notes say that when I do get through, the ports used are: 995 for POP3 and 465 for SMTP.

Is V* trying to do to their email system what they did to their newsgroup feeds a while back?

I am getting the same error on different, random addresses. Each time I do a manual check for messages, a different account gets this error.
