Well if you unplug the computer and it stops then you are right that it has to be the computer. Try googling for a program that reports what is using the internet on your computer, I know there are some because I have seen people talk about it, but I havn't ever had the need for one and thus can't tell you anymore than that. -- HughesNet elite plan/.74 dish w/1watt trans. / 9000 modem / 3 computers on a linksy's wired network
It is automatic windows update that is doing it. It started as soon as you plugged it into the internet. Once it starts it is going to keep downloading untill it gets them even if you turn auto updates off. -- 7000S SatMex 5 1050, Dlink wirless
I had the same problem when I got a new computer,I installed a good firewall that let nothing in unless I gave it permission. I found out that one of the biggest offenders was windows media player. After a week of alarms from various programs seeking permission to connect to the internet, things settled down and I was able to disengage the firewall and use the regular windows firewall. I used "windows 7firewall control" available at Major Geeks.com
