I recommend poking them with a sharper stick, they've obviously developed defenses against mild poking.

Why are you using sticks?
Cattle prods or Swords would make more sense.

How long is the list these days?

About 50 or so...

After almost a month without any reboot issues I'm finding that my modem has rebooted four times in the past two weeks. If you are just counting affected customers then +1 for me. If you need account number then lemme know.

hopefully we get a resolution to this problem... I am now in debt to Bell because I kept my old stinger modem and now have a two cell pipe modems. The rebooting Teksavvy modem which I am paying a monthly fee for and the working bell modem which I have paid 70 dollars for because I never returned it to Bell due to the reboot issues with the one TekSavvy sent.

I wonder how many like bigzig are those who would have no problems with the Stinger. Is anyone still getting Stinger modems?

Howdy all,

Had this exact problem with my first two 7130 modems (firmware v1.0.4.4R3WH). The third one that Bell sent me a few days ago has the older v1.0.4.3EF-ISAM firmware (Bell-logoed unlike the previous two) and so far have had no reboots. The modem is well-used and has a few buzzing and squealing electrolytics, but I can easily replace those. Keeping my fingers crossed the modem lasts...

Sagemcom

@teksavvy.com

I was experiencing some pretty bad sync issues with 10 Mb/s or lower down speeds, 2Mb/s or lower upload on a 25/7 plan.

The Bell technician replaced my Cellpipe with a Sagemcom and the speeds are now at about 23 down, 5 up.

Haha, seriously? He must have not known you were a wholesale ISP customer.

Hey guys,
I have been searching for high upload internet services in my area and found the 25/7 plan with teksavvy to be what I'm looking for.

I have managed to read all the posts in this thread and the information has made me a little uneasy about ordering this service. I will be needing close to 100% reliability as I upload high volume data more than 14 hours at a time each day.

If you guys could confirm my understanding of the situation and answer my questions, it would really help me out.

What I have understood from this thread is that the Cellpipe modem provided with the 25/7 is garbage. In the best case scenario in which you have ideal DSLAM(STINGER remote) and corresponding firmware(v1.04.3EF), you should disable its main features PPPoE/DHCP/Wireless and have those run through a separate router.

I understand that most places in Toronto use the STINGER remote, but there are exceptions. I currently reside at Sheppard/Leslie in North York -- right across North York General Hospital. Would anyone have any idea what kind of DSLAM is available in this area?

Is there anything I can do, before ordering this service and paying all the setup fees, in order to find out which DSLAM I will have at my location?

If I do sign up for the service and happen to have a ALU 7330 remote, and receive a Cellpipe with v1.0.4.4R3WH firmware, what kind of time frame am I looking at to get a replacement modem and try my luck again?

If you require stability, I would wait until the issues with the Cellpipes and the rebooting is officially addressed.

I got my Zyxel in just over a month, but it sounds like that was somewhat longer than normal. If you wait for Bell you might be waiting a very long time.

Hey guys,

I apologize for the long delay in getting you an update. We received word from Bell today and it is not the perfect update however it does indicate that things are moving in the right direction.

Here is the update:
Bell has come back to us stating that after speaking with the Cellpipe manufacturer, Alcatel, they will be releasing a new version of firmware which Bell anticipates to release and push to the public within 4-6 weeks from there. They are confident that this issue will be resolved. They are also looking into branching out a few models of modems so that when issues on a large scale happen, they will have different stock to choose from. They anticipate releasing the second set of models within 6-8 months from now.

Although this is not the perfect resolution, they are moving in the correct direction. We have engaged them further to get our hands on some other modems that have not yet been released to Third Party ISPs on a testing ground. If it proves successful we will then try to initiate a swap for those affected by the outage. We are keeping a firm grasp on this issue and we will keep poking for an update.

Stay tuned for another update.

Thanks,

Andre

Andre,

That was you in the dress, right? The lost bet didn't have anything to do with Bell's response, did it?

So the upshot is that we are a minimum of 4 weeks away from a fix? And that only happens if a miracle occurs?

Why doesn't Bell just revert the firmware on these modems? They're remotely managed after all.
