Re: [DSL] Cellpipe random reboots / loss of sync (Check logs ple said by HiVolt:said by derekm:said by Phibian:if you removed the PPPoE login information the modem couldn't resolve the address and would not update. For those of you with the 1.0.4.3EF-ISAM firmware this sounds like a prudent precaution to take. Probably why I haven't been updated. I blew away all that stuff as soon as I got the modem (under the WAN settings). That's what I'll do. I dont want that rebooting firmware. This is odd that they have it set up like this, if the user doesn't use it as a router, it cant update itself. The old Bell SpeedStream 6520 had a separate management virtual circuit with a built in login that could download firmware and be accessed by Bell even if the user had it in bridge mode with no PPPoE info entered. Actually you can still use it in bridge mode with the modem doing its own ppp connection, you loose a very tiny bit of speed that most people wont notice. You have to set it to manual and disconnect the connection. |

I did have the connector as well for that din plug but never got around to exploring it's use. |

Re: Insert titillating title here I only became aware of it after moving within the same building and getting a new modem.
Which I thought was ridiculous considering I stayed on 25/7. |

You have to make the pppoe connection on your router or pc... and disconnect the one on the cellpipe, it works fine for me. it does take about 30 seconds for the cellpipe to reboot after disconnect (and in those 30 seconds you wont have internet). |

No, you need another router, which will initiate the PPPoE session than distribute that via NAT to computers you plug into it via ethernet or connect to the router wirelessly...
The idea is to let the Cellpipe modem be a "dumb modem", by disabling its PPPoE login, DHCP, & Wireless modes. -- Tank Nation 2012

Just received another CellPipe. Checked firmware - it was 1.0.4.3EF-ISAM and even interface had the "BELL"-logo plus some different options in menu.
I disconnected PPPoE in WAN menu. Put my D-Link DIR615 in bridge and set up PPPoE over it. That works but up-speed fell from 7.33 to 4.78 which is 35% decrease! Upgrading D-Link firmware changed nothing, thus that router not so good at maintaining relevant speed. Another thing i can`t reach CellPipe page Anyway, crossing fingers one "lucky" day that f/w won`t turn into v.1.0.4.4R3WH. |

I do get full speed in bridge mode using a Netgear WNDR3700 or an Linksys e4200v2. When I logged on trying to create a static route so I could access my router with NAT disabled and the modem screens and logged the modem on is when the update happened.
The Bell logo disappeared from all the admin screens, as well as the Bell branded setup wizard when trying to access the internet via a browser after a reset.
Are you sure when you are in bridge mode the internet light is not on the modem? In which case you may have been double NATing. |

You set up a static route on the Cellpipe, set up a different subnet on your router and disable NAT (if your router supports that), and have the modem handle the connection.

 | reply to Phibian So, just how bad is the situation with the Cellpipe modems?
I am about to order my upgrade from 5M and seem to have all the options available to me.
Should I risk the Cellpipe problems and order 25/7, or simply go with the 16/1?
I do already own a Speedtouch 516 modem, but I am willing to update it if the Cellpipe is not a horror story. |

| reply to KanataDSLUsr Hard to say. The cellpipe is definitely a horror story but it does seem that a number of people have recently been getting the working version of the firmware. The really issue is that it is luck of the draw. You might get one that reboots 1.5 times per day or you might get one that works. If you do get the bad one then you are stuck it seems. TSI is working on something with Bell but nobody really knows when that will pan out. Could be days, weeks, months or never. If you land on a 7330 remote (which is hard to know for sure) then you have the added option of ordering one of a couple of somewhat hard to get modems that are not officially supported but do seem to work. If you land on one of the other remotes things are not as certain although there does appear to be at least one option but nobody has confirmed it as working. So it is a gamble. As Google would say: Are you feeling lucky? |

 | reply to Phibian Well I had my 25/7 installed yesterday afternoon with a 1.0.4.3EF-ISAM Cellpipe, and I haven't had it reboot yet. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping it stays that way! |
