Re: [DSL] Cellpipe random reboots / loss of sync (Check logs ple

Anyone have a complete list of modems that work with the 25/7 VDSL2 service? Sure the firmware has worked connectivity wise.... but still some issues I'm dealing with and want to see what else is out there.

I realize a few were mentioned in this thread as well but it's nearly 70 pages now and I'd have to literally read every post and look for any mention of different modems being tested...

Thanks guys

That works only on the Alcatel 7330 Remote in Bell's territory, not the Lucent (IKNS) Stinger.

But his location is Hamilton, so he's likely on a 7330.

Hi, I just wanted to report that I got my CellPipe to take the firmware update on Monday night, and now my modem has been connected for 48 hours straight, without a hiccup.. if it stays connected for 2-3 more days, then I think we have a winner, and this has been fixed. _FINALLY_ ..

So i'm still on 1.0.4.3EF-ISAM. Supposedly this firmware is stable yet my modem loses sync 2-3 times a week on average.

Tonight I disconnected my router and put in my PPPoE details under Advanced Setup -> WAN Setting -> PPPoE (Internet only) and let it sit for an hour. Upon checking my FW did not upgrade nor do I see any attempt in the logs.

Earlier in this thread a TekSavvy Rep mentioned that the new firmware would go out even to modems on remotes. Am I missing something or will my FW not be upgraded?

It depends how Bell has set up this last firmware upgrade. ie, they may only be looking to upgrade from the problematic 1.0.4.4R3WH firmware, and leave everything else alone.

If you're losing sync, it shouldn't be the fault of the firmware, as that firmware you have is stable. Have you tried to get a modem swap thru TekSavvy?

I'm on 1.0.3.3EF-ISAM as well, and even though the modem connects to the TR-069 ACS, it never gets updated. I'm hoping that (maybe) Bell is just waiting until tomorrow morning to upgrade us. If not, well, that's Bell for you. My sync just dropped 6 times in the past hour.

3 days, 00:55:53 Up time..!!!

Woot new record... Go Go Go....

Now I'm thinking of getting VoIP and ditching POTS.

Which was the plan back at the begining of this year when I got the 25/7.

So now that This issue is finally being Put to bed Does that mean teksavvy will Start Crediting us for Months of Horrible Internet? connectivity? I mean yes i assume we get the modem rental fee back, But our entire internet experience was very subpar games crashed mid game movies voip phone calls dropped all cause teksavvy provided Dud modems ( sure bell forced them but teksavvy is my isp not bell). martin any idea on Compensation for many many Months of bad service?

Well, it's been 5 days of no reboots since I updated the firmware. Looks like the problem is finally solved.

It is too bad this problem was forced upon Teksavvy by Bell.

I knew I was in for trouble when the installer told me the modem was junk and Bell wasn't using them for their own customers.

I think Teksavvy has a good case for a large lawsuit because this affected their reputation and ability to provide competitive and reliable service as a direct result of Bell's deliberate action to force them to use a defective product.

I am a Bell customer and I still have the cellpipe modem to supply my FibeTV and internet. It has worked flawlessly for 1.5 years. I am glad to hear your firmware has been upgraded to fix the trouble but when someone offers their opinion (installer) you have to take it as his personal opinion and not that of the masses. There is a move towards the newer modem because the cellpipe is no longer available to the technicians when they do their ordering. It isn't a conspiracy against Teksavvy customers as I see it, but there should be some sort of reimbursement to those people like yourself who suffered this situation for so long. That is my humble opinion.

Edit: when I learned about this problem I got permission to loan HiVolt a Sagemcom modem so that he could prove it beyond a doubt that it was a modem issue.

I feel like I'm the only one that didn't get the update...

My modem loses sync frequently, but more often than Jioklo See Profile: 10-15 times per day. I was really hoping for the update, but no dice I guess.

I believe you are having a specific DSL sync issue which wouldn't be related to the modem firmware. As far as I know the firmware ISAM you are using isn't problematic as the r4 version has.

I would suggest a Intermittent sync ticket be opened for your situation.

Martin,

I've called 7 times since the first Bell tech came out (and said there was no problem) but the CSR's have refused to open an intermittent sync ticket for me, saying I would "almost definitely" be charged the DMC because the issue was "most likely" related to my modem firmware. No modem swap, no tech visit... nothing except "wait for the new firmware" which I don't have.

I love you guys (like I said in my lengthy PM to you) but seriously?

can you clip the reset lines from the log file and post them here?
I have the new firmware and it seems pretty solid, although I am getting a lot of VDSL up, VDSL down messages (sync issue I think)
Just curious, what does a reset look like in the log file?
