rcdailey posted : I have today tested the chameleon function on three different systems running Win 7 Pro 64-bit. It seems to work without any problems. One system did report two objects, but I have not yet looked at the log to see what they are (someone needed to use the computer). The other two are clean.

Added: I got back to the computer that showed 2 objects when the scan started. It turned out that 9 objects were detected. All were "adware" so no big thing. I selected to remove them and MBAM asked for a restart to fully clean (which is normal in my experience). All seems fine with the system, but I did clean up temp internet files with CCleaner because there were a lot of them.

It will be interesting to hear from anyone who has had to run chameleon due to MBAM being blocked by malware.

I tested chameleon with my paid version of MBAM and it works, but wonder whether anyone had tried it with the non-paid version in Win 7 Pro 64-bits? I haven't had time yet to check on this, myself.

I'm actually surprised there aren't a whole lot more problems (and a whole lot more often), considering the vast number of different hardware and software configurations people have.
I suspect this effected a small number of users, comparatively speaking. For me, it was only a minor inconvenience, and again...something I think we have to expect from time to time. (Actually, I can't even remember when I've had a problem updating a program version within the program itself until now, and I've lost count of how many times I've updated it in the past).
Certainly not cause for me to lose faith in the program, nor lose any sleep when all is said and done.
Don't get me wrong...there are many events that have caused me to lose sleep. This just isn't one of them. :D

The other is my personal old Dell with XP Home SP3 and the paid version. MBAM requested a reboot for this one, but there was no problem. Since there are many differences in hardware and software between users, the possibility of a conflict is great. I fully expected a problem myself, and consider myself lucky this time.

Thank heaven I went into the registry to fish out my license number and product key, as they were needed for the reinstall.

Yes, I SHOULD have saved those originally---but silly me, I feel that once I install a program and enter the product key, I'm done! Who dreamed that MBAM would malf up a direct upgrade?

After that I learned my lesson and did a complete fresh install after removing all remnants of the older version first...(including using mbam-clean.exe, as mentioned by gugarci.)
No problems at all on my other machines with that procedure.

There may not have been problems anyway, depending on the other machines...just thought I'd go the safe way to be sure. (Heck, it was probably about time for a fresh install of this program anyway). ;)
