Re: Actiontec MI424WR FIOS N Router REV. I

Ah, because of the need to go to Gb rates one of the newer routers does. So people upgrading MAY be sent in rev I.

The 75/35 tier should be able to get it based on wireless bandwidth limitations. (Even the REV F can only go to 65mbps on wireless)

Wireless limitations were seemingly not Verizon's prime determinant for router selection. Even the 35/35 plan was slowed a bit with G wireless in many/most installations - and the 50Mb plan was likely degraded even with the Rev F. Its easy and cheap enough to add a consumer N router to function as a wireless AP, so demanding consumers were squelched quite a bit.

Just got a rev.I today. I had a rev.F and wow there is a difference in speed with this router. The pages just seem to pop right up.

I noticed that media manager runs faster with revI compared to my old RevF

Maybe Because it's got MOCA 1.1 with 175 Mbit/s bandwidth and support for up to 16 devices. plus faster processor and more ram.

I tried to search this thread, but was unsuccessful.

I have my rev. I in hand, and the WAN port clearly says "10/100", and the switched ports correctly say 10/100/1000. Isn't the WAN port supposed to be 10/100/1000 as well? I've yet to decommission and release my old rev. F, so I don't know if that's just a typo on the labeling above the port.

IIRC, if both the "10" and "100" lights are lit simultaneously, then you're at 1000. All I know for sure is that THIS is my Rev I's port status, and as you'll see - its clearly 1000.

Edit: If your ONT is BPON, I believe its 10/100 Ethernet.

I was just upgraded to FIOS 3.0/1.0 (Speedtest.net shows ~4.8/1.6 ping ~70 ms). I did not get a manual, CD .. just router and a short cable. After the tech installed I tried to login with the 7 digit serial number - fail! so I reset and admin/password worked but I was not prompted to change the credentials. When I logout then back in I can not get in, the login failed message comes up. (note all settings are default; I want to set the SSID to hidden and a few other mods) Is there a workaround for this or can someone post a link for the manual? I checked the AT site and Rev I manual is not there. TIA
@ Smith6612 what is up? I am josem441 over on Verizon forum

Reset the ActionTec again and set a password. See if it resets to something else after logging out from that point.

Thanks, Reset did the trick I went to the Quick link , changed the password to the router serial # and now I can login/logout without any issues! Kudos to the genius from North Tonawanda!

Has anyone tried to use win 7 credential manager to store the login information for the router?
NYCDAVE Kudos to you also !!!

You can't save the router login information with any browser - the router's web GUI won't allow it.

Can you verify that... save the info, quit Safari and then start Safari and then relog into the router without supplying the password? I can't.

Yes it does. Password is stored in my keychain

I have yet to be able to get Safari to automatically log back into the router. The keychain saves the data and inputs it into the GUI on the login page, but pressing 'return' or clicking 'input' doesn't work. I'm using up-to-date Lion with Safari, and have also tried this on 10.4, 10.5, and 10.6 using Safari, Firefox and Camino with equal lack of success. Perhaps your password is very short or repetitive, or perhaps your advanced router setting bypassed local login verification, or lastly perhaps I'm missing something, but I'd really LIKE to be able to duplicate your success.

Here is the Spec Sheet for the Rev i right off the actiontech website.

The spec sheet confirms that the WAN is 10/100/1000 for the person who was asking for confirmation. I also see a note that multiple SSID's are available upon request. Anyone know what that is about?

Not sure if anyone specified in the last 23 pages, but for the record I'm absolutely sure this is the standard FiOS router now, definitely not limited to the top-speed installations. How do I know? I was fixing a lady's computer and Verizon recently upgraded all DSL customers in the neighborhood to FiOS for free because they were getting complaints about the DSL, she only has the 20/15 package and has a brand new Revision I. It even comes with a default WPA2 password on the information label rather than WEP like the older models.

I was soooooooooooo jelly, I had to pay $80 out of pocket on eBay for my Rev G and the Rev I supposedly uses the same 1.2GHz dual-core ARM processor found in some of the nicer Android phones according to its specs. Guess I'll wait for the Rev J or K which will hopefully finally bring dual-band support, they won't really be able to go to higher Wireless speeds like 450 and higher until they introduce the 5GHz bandwidth on these routers

The traffic meter on the latest firmware does not work properly (way off - shows less than actual by at least a factor of 10, I think). This is a useful feature for me to keep tabs on how much my kids are wasting time on timewasters such as Youtube.
