Re: [TIVO] Set Top Box vs. Digital Adapter

Yep the Series 2 should work with the digital adapter. If it's a dual tuner Tivo, it will only be able to tune 1 channel though.

The DA is doing all of the channel tuning, so the Tivo will record/show whatever the DA can receive. Lower channels, higher channels, music channels, even the channels in the 1500's etc.

Thanks for your quick response! Just curious... Would TiVO show all the channels that the DA can receive/tune on its guide and from where would it get that info?

The DA has no guide. Understand that whatever the DA tunes, it outputs on channel 3 or composite only. Your Tivo would have to be tuned to channel 3 to receive the signal from the DA (or accept composite inputs).

The TiVo has a guide itself which would show all of the channels in whatever line up you select in guided setup. You could then pick and choose what to show in the TiVo guide through select channels you receive.

The Series 2 has both rf and composite inputs. I would use the composite and audio from the DA.
