Like mcsummation and matt5 I don't see why you don't want this. If there is only one drive on the ide port then it should be master. If you are having problems with the system booting when it properly discovers the drive then that is an issue with your boot order in bios and whether the drive is designated master or not has no bearing on this.
BIOS sees the drive, but it says Status BAD. This HDD should work fine, but let me try to dig thru the garage and find another HDD. Sorry for the trouble.
