Re: Heater CO2 leak?

Since there seem to be some questions about the qualifications of the people that have looked at your furnace , you may want to consider going at it a different way .
If you are using natural gas , contact your gas supplier and tell them you are worried that you have a monoxide leak . They should have the proper equipment to check it .
Another source that may have good test equipment is your local fire department . I think you will find that they will also be happy to test it for you .
If you are using propane or oil , talk to your supplier .
There are several companies that that make good pro level test meters , but this will give you an idea of what should be used to test the furnace .

Even though the CO2 level is checked to determine how efficient the burn is , the CO level is what can hurt or kill you.
Having the co detectors is a good idea , but make sure you installed them exactly as the manufacturer specified .
Also be aware that if they go off , it is a get out of the house now situation ! Most of them would not register a CO level consistent with a small exchanger crack .

You need someone with the correct meter to check. Like MrFixit1 See Profile said, most of the time the gas company will come out with a real meter and check things out for free. I certainly wouldn't replace my furnace because some guy said his eyes are tearing up.

While most utilities will test and and in some cases adjust to ensure safe operation of your equipment, they also sell new equipment and installations and therefore also need to be taken with a grain of salt.
