Re: Modem-only for docsis 3.0?

AMDGamer, your wrt160n works with your wife's macbook and all your other computers just fine, but only with a plain old modem, and not one that is bridged?

It works in bridged mode, but constantly drops the internet connection with my WRT160N. I was running DDWRT on it when I first upgraded to 30Mbps, last night I reverted it back to the original firmware and it was still happening. My wifes MBP is really the only wireless device other than our cell phones and printer, but they're not constantly streaming internet so I can't tell if they drop out or not. I will stop tomorrow at the WOW office and swap out the modem/router and report back.

I am trying to avoid buying a modem, although I have checked them out and Microcenter and the local BestBuy does have the 6121 in stock if need be. May just bust down and purchase one.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Oh BTW I'm not sure if its the wiring, but we just had the entire house rewired back in the summer due to the tech that came out to service my modem then told me that the wiring was getting old, was back when Ameritech still was around. When he ran the new wires he ran a dedicated drop for the modem and my signals have been rock solid since then.

Honestly, the chances that somehow connecting a MacBook Pro wireless is causing the bridged modem to "drop" internet connectivity to your router is like one in a million in my mind. As far as the modem and WOW is concerned, all the NAT traffic coming from your router is the same. Your router crapping out because of incompatible wireless drivers (it wouldn't surprise me one bit if the broadcom driver in dd-wrt and linksys stock firmware was the same) seems much more likely.

If you end up getting another modem and this still happens, definitely let us know, I have some troubleshooting ideas.

I went tonight and broke down and bought SB6121, using it with my linksys router right now, and so far, so good.
