Re: Estimate for electrical service to property Several years ago the Mrs. and I looked at some lots out by Castlewood (St. Paul Rd. area). They were kind of remote. Around that time (early 2008, before the market crash), it was around $110,000 for 5 unimproved acres. If you keep looking in the area, I'm sure you'll find those same lots for much less now. Probably less than 1/2 of what they were asking 4 years ago.
Fortunately, we stayed put. If I had tried to build a new house back then, the bank would have it by now.
Mr Matt: This definitely doesn't qualify for REA. This is a more affluent area of St. Louis County. There's no mandate on the utilities, and this isn't a co-op. As I mentioned, the customer pays for the expansion of services from the existing utility. I deal with this particular utility frequently. -- I just might be the most "licensed" S.O.B. you know.
