Re: Resilience Thread (Verify Math/Logic)

resil-based EH is to heal than pure Stam (not just by outside heals, but by self heals as well).

See, that's exactly it. At a certain point 1 resilience mitigates less damage than 1 stamina (10 health) for example.

based on the article I read, I don't think the DR works that way. It doesn't force a resil:EH plateau, it merely prevents the ever steepening of the resil:EH curve. Blizz was trying to keep the relationship linear, I think. If I'm wrong, that is awesome, and the work you and moos are doing will provide guidance on when it would be preferable to gem stam/stam+resil/resil in whatever slots.

I don't know how they could create a static formula that doesn't eventually plateau (however slowly). The spreadsheet is based off of numbers that we're working on verifying from EJ. As Moo's said above, he believes they may be rounded to two decimal places which would certainly skew the results.

However, (and this was months back) Blizzard's reasoning for the DR's was to stop players from stacking resilience over all other stats. Players were gemming full resilience and ignoring socket bonuses, Humans were running double resil trinkets, and enchanting for resilience etc. So if the DR's don't plateau the point was mute.

This doesn't mean that all classes should aim for the same level of resilience. An easy example is a mage that is virtually always the kill target in any comp - He will probably value resilience higher than a warlock (so irritating to kill).

Basically, neither Moo's or I would put time into the spread sheet if we didn't think it provided helpful PvP information.

Thanks for your hard work with it! Are you guys going to write a some kind of a calc for it all when your done or just leave it a spreadsheet? Is it going to stay on DSLR or is the work getting published to a major outlet like AJ/EJ?
