htin11 join:2000-08-10 Flushing, NY | nyc fios installation Have anyone recently order fios in the nyc (queens), i have a installation date of saturday, was wondering how old does it take for them to install and also will they push the date out? So far they haven't told me about any delays. |
|
 | It normally takes 4 to 6 hours to install. Most of the time they will come in your assigned window. |

bohratomJersey Shore will rise again join:2011-07-07 Red Bank NJ | reply to htin11 As long as you have coax already run to your TV's and computer then the majority of the installation revolves around running the fiber to your location. My installation took around 4 hours and 80% of that involved running the fiber from the street to my house and installing the ONT. |

 | reply to htin11 Are you still on for installation today? |

zQ join:2003-12-14 Flushing, NY | Ah I'm on the opposite side of Kissena...at least FiOS is now in visual range!
How did you find out it was available in your area? |

| went to verizon.com/fios and input my address and it mention it was available. Prior to that i noticed that there was orange wiring hanging from the poles, it was there for about a week and then it was gone. This was back in July-August before the strike. |

zQ join:2003-12-14 Flushing, NY | reply to htin11 Just drove by Kissena Blvd and Peck Ave again, and saw at least 3 or 4 Verizon trucks of various types working along Kissena. I am pretty certain it was FiOS work because one of those vehicles had a spindle of orange cable attached. It looked like they were digging a hole, but I couldn't tell for sure since it was dark. I did notice a sheet of water streaming across the road due to their work.
Hopefully this is progress. |

 | Verizon trucks were parked in front my house today. They pulled red string about a block away from me. I am being told they should be wiring my block within the next month.
Finally getting close to dumping Time Warner! |
|
 | Verizon is running pull strings behind my house. Almost time to get rid of TWC!!! |

NPire join:2001-05-01 New York, NY | reply to htin11 Were you happy with the installation? FIOS is in my building - my nextdoor neighbor was one of the first to get it installed about two years ago but they put the ONT on the wall in his living room (smallish apartment with no electrical near the closets - he's got a piece of furniture in front of it, but I wasn't exactly impressed).
That was the dealbreaker for me, would like to dump time warner when verizon figures out a cleaner way to deal with the equipment... |
|
 | reply to MacAlert And red string was replaced with fiber optic cable. |
|
 | I am getting Fios installed in bayside on the 19th. I hope I don't run into any issues with being given 6xxx series boxes. Getting 25/25 Internet. |

htin11 join:2000-08-10 Flushing, NY | reply to NPire Verizon need a location to place the ONT box, they need it somewhere where they can ground the ONT. You can maybe install it in the laundry room or something. I had it installed in the garage so it was good. |
