rugbyI think I know it all.VIP join:2000-09-26 Plainfield, IN | [rant] Applecare+ only applies if you buy directly from Apple So I tried to buy my iPhone 4s's from the Apple online store and could not complete the order successfully so I ordered them straight from Verizon and migrated my #'s from ATT. I then went to look up how to get AppleCare for them and found out it doesn't exist anymore. In fact, you can only get AppleCare+.
The problem is you can only get AppleCare+ at the time of purchase, AND you can only buy it from Apple.
Seriously? Is this even legal? |

| Re: [rant] Applecare+ only applies if you buy directly from Appl I think since this new warranty now includes accidental damage, the requirement is at the time of purchase, because if it wasn't, you could just buy it when your phone breaks then go and get it replaced.
But the fact that you have to buy it from Apple only is strange, how are people getting it thru the carrier supposed to get them? I bet once more complaints like this arise, they will make some sort of change to allow to purchase it within 15 days or something.
Make sure you call Apple and lodge a complain, or even send an email to Teh Cook. -- GO LEAFS GO! |

ThinkdiffPremium,MVM join:2001-08-07 Bronx, NY kudos:6 | reply to rugby I was offered AppleCare+ from Sprint when I placed my order. I wasn't offered it from AT&T, but their servers were in the shitter so maybe they didn't have it setup yet.
I don't see why it would be illegal. Sprint always had a rule that you had to buy their TEP insurance within a certain amount of time (I think 30 days). Apple has just shortened the time to zero. Might not be very nice or fair, but I don't see it being illegal. -- University of Southern California - Fight On! |

rugbyI think I know it all.VIP join:2000-09-26 Plainfield, IN | Did you buy it from Apple? I wasn't able to so I bought it from Verizon directly. Apple's online store couldn't log into my verizon account for some reason. |
|
 | reply to rugby I don't think it's worth it. Isn't it like $100 plus a $50 deductible and only can be used twice? I would rather try and fix it myself.
But it is strange that Verizon and ATT didn't offer it. |

*To obtain AppleCare +, simply cancel order and re-order with Apple if you ordered from VZW or the Death Star.
*Bring unopened iP4S Box and proof of purchase to Apple Store and purchase AppleCare +.
Contacting AppleCare CSR's and Apple Store, no one knows what Apple will do for those that could not purchase AppleCare +. It is simply not fair if your service provider did not offer it to buy. |

I'm not sure this is true anymore. My best friend was pissed to find out his BB accidental warranty terminated after the first incident. May not be simple because upgrade eligibility needs to be returned to the account before he can order from Apple. When UPS stole my iPhone, it took weeks for AT&T to restore my eligibility. -- AT&T U-Hearse - RIP Unlimited Internet 1995-2011 Rethink Billable.

I am not suggesting one simply cancel order. It was what I was told by Apple Store Employees after their morning meeting to discuss issue. Contacting an AppleCare+ CSR produced different results, (bring NSIB iP4S to Apple Store).
I ordered from VZW since it was the only website working at the time for preorder. There are some rumors from the VZW Board that an 800 # would be setup on Wednesday Oct 12 to contact VZW for purchase of AppleCare+ |
