id is the original tech demo company. Release a game engine, and expect the rest of the game dev industry to fix his broken stuff, all the while releasing it on a half-hearted, half-baked piece of software they try to pass off as a game. There's a reason some of us were waiting that long for Duke Forever... 
I never expected RAGE to be any good. The fact that they couldn't come up with a better title was the first clue. Ironic that it ends up being the feeling you'll have with how ass-tastic it plays... funny how Epic gets a ton of flak for the 'texture pop-in' when loading a stage fresh in their engines, but somehow Carmack thought he could get a free pass on making it do that pop in behavior by turning around.
It's like John Carmack is deliberately trolling us.
