Servers colocation in Toronto..

Hey guys,

I am looking to put my servers in a Datacenter but I cannot find a cheap place to put them in.. I am also looking for a place that offers a good price on storage since I am building a huge database serve.. Sorry if such posts are not allowed in this forum but I thought I would ask

Look at Web Hosting Talk for some colo offers, ask some companies for quotes and start with that.

Define "cheap".

Keeping in mind that you get what you pay for, you're unlikely to find a colo for less than $50/mo, and that's bare bones... that is what I pay for my own colo host, and that buys me a shared 100mbit fibre, no UPS service, and no emergency off-hours access. It's fine for a personal mail server (running on a repurposed laptop, so it has a built-in UPS), and I don't really care if it is offline for a couple of hours, because the way the SMTP protocol is designed, remote servers will queue the mail and deliver it when I come back online, but not exactly the kind of service you'd want to put a mission critical or high use site on. (that said, it's been down for a total of 4 hours in the last year, due to a fibre cut that they had no control over)

Anything *mission critical* you'd want to have multiple colo's located in different cities for geo-redundancy, coupled with a DNS round-robin to multiple load balancers also located in different cities.

Do you just need a single server and 1U ?

If you just want 1U $125/mo will get you that from Caneris.

If you want more space it might be best to call up Peer1 you can get a half rack from them with 20amp's of power and a 10meg circuit for a very affordable rate.
