 | Internet connectivity issues I just had charter internet and TV installed and immediately am having problems with the internet. I purchased the Motorola SB5101U modem as recommended, and it works for about two hours at a time. Then all of a sudden I am not able to connect to any internet pages through my macbook, my girlfriend's PC or my PS3. The computers still show full bars (airport) and I am able to view my router but cannot connect. I have also tried bypassing the router and hooking directly to the modem, the same problem still occurs. I called motorola and had them run diagnostics on the modem and apparently everything was looking good. To correct the issue I have to power cycle the modem (and router if using) and this restores connectivity, but it simply goes out again in a couple of hours. I have contacted charter and they don't seem to be much help. Any ideas? |

 | Have you checked your signal levels? If so can you post them? The easiest way to get them is to connect directly to your modem and go to the diagnostics screen or screens and find your downstream level your upstream level and your MER levels. |

Yes, Post your signal levels and if you can't get help here, post in the Direct forum. »/forum/charterdirect
What plan are you one? Not that it matters much, but if your area is Docsis 3 compliant, get a Docsis 3 modem just for the channel bonding and I bet those issues disappear. -- The Firefox alternative. »www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/ |

 | Which is why I said to post them here also or in the Direct forum.
I know it cured my issue when I switched from my Docsis 2 SB5100 to my Docsis 3 Zoom5341. |
