yup.

Anything above 25 is acceptable. Anything above 30 is awesome.

Mr Torres,

You asked about upstream MER (it's no longer measured as SNR because you now use a digital QAM carrier to transport upstream signal back to the CMTS). I gave you the answer for upstream MER.

Did you want an answer for downstream MER also? If so, 256 QAM carriers are said to be able to work with levels as low as 28 MER. However, Charter's standard is to have MER levels above 33 at the customer's equipment (I've never seen anything below 30 MER work properly anyway). However, in most cases, you should see downstream MER levels of 36 or higher the majority of the time.

So mine is no longer measured as SNR because i now use a digital QAM carrier to transport upstream signal back to the CMTS?? what does that mean??? And do you know if the network in fort worth is running on Docsis 3.0 equipment???

Digital QAM carrier to transport upstream signal back to the CMTS:

It means Charter is no longer using analog (QPSK) signal. It's all 1's and 0's now. Analog noise was measured in SNR. Digital imperfection ratios are measured in MER. Just think of MER as digital's equivalent to analog's SNR.

I don't know about DOCSIS 3.0 in Ft. Worth. I do know however, that you only have a DOCSIS 2.0 modem, so if it is available, you'll need to change it out.

888-GET-CHARTER. Give 'em a call to find out. I'm curious to know the answer.

Sorry, I saw a recent post from you with an older DOCSIS 2.0 modem screenshot. I was under the impression you still had it. Kudos on the DOC3 modem.

I don't know what to tell you about the DFW area. I know absolutely nothing about their progress in the upgrade. The Umatter2charter people might be able to get some info though. All it takes is an email to the right people with your info to find out where you stand, but ONLY give out your info to the Umatter people (as I'm sure you already know, so I'm not telling you anything new). Good luck.
