| Bluray player for Windows 7 I just bought a LG player/writer that was on sale on NCIX recently. It came with PowerDVD 9, but when I open it, it says "PowerDVD 9 is not optimized for your resolution and will now close."
I tried the PowerDVD 11 demo and the problem persisted. Some Google searches revealed this was a known bug that has been alive for over a year with no fix for now.
Anyone knows of any other tried and tested software that can play Bluray, paid or free? |

Media players like Potplayer and VLC would probably be able to play unprotected disks, but I don't believe they would work for anything that's copy protected. Corel WinDVD is supposed to be a good non free BD player. |

| reply to TigerLord I bought ArcSoft Total Media Theater 5 last week. My new Toshiba laptop came with some Corel Blu-Ray player, and the pre-installed Norton suite flagged one of the files as a virus, quarantined it, and broke the player! Toshiba told me to use the recovery discs I made, Corel was ZERO help, and Norton was "Sorry about that!", with no other help. I uninstalled the Corel player and Norton, and put AVG on it, and then bought the ArcSoft player. It's expensive ($100), but works beautifully. -- One man's Magic is another man's Engineering. |
