I wonder how many others will be doing the same? That's cutting your nose off, to spite your face. For all we know, all T-Mobile accounts will be grandfathered. And what we don't know, is to what extent consolidation might actually improve things.
While I'm dead-set against the merger on historical grounds - SBC/AT&T hasn't done much of anything right in my lifetime, that doesn't mean there can't be positive outcomes if we fail to block it.
Where will you go? |

| reply to elray When you have greed and shareholders behind this everyone will eventually become AT&T bitches. If anyone wants a good read on the history of this company that really shows how long they have been screwing over the American public take a few min to read it. »www.fundinguniverse.com/company-···ory.html |

Where will you go? The thought of giving AT&T a single penny is way way worse than starting a new phone plan. |

I wonder how many others will be doing the same? I thought about it, but who am i going to go to? Verizon and pay a lot more? Sprint and their crappy 4g coverage? us cellular and their lack of any 4g network? They are not going to shut off t-mobile 3g/4g towers for at least a year or two, so im not too concerned about it. When they do that, verizon, us cellular, or even sprint may have lte working. Re: About to cancel T-mobile That's not the history of the current ATT, that's the history of the now dead ATT. The company you call ATT today is SBC, the one who's history you linked to is actually gone. It was destroyed through a division to pieces that were sold off to the highest bidder. SBC bought the name and a small portion of the final small piece of the whole that was left and renamed themselves ATT. Other than buying the name from ATT they share nothing with the original company (other than the former baby bell area that was divested during the anti-trust breakup). |

 | reply to djdanska T will have to make sure that all current TMO phones will WORK on their network before they can even shut down the TMO network. They maybe both GSM but TMO uses AWS for data. That is why the iPhone4 will NOT pick up HSPDA on the TMO network. T will just operate the TMO network until they're sure they have everyone migrated over; and it could take longer than 2-3 years. Hell it took them over 10years to kill their analog network. |

| They started that over a year ago. More and more phones support at&t's bands. 2 of my 3 t-mobile devices support at&t's 3g and 4g (hspa+) bands now. Just my hd2 doesn't.
Once at&t opens up its own 3g/hspa+ network to t-mobile customers, For the most part i will be able to hop right on. -- The day the child realizes that all adults are imperfect, he becomes an adolescent; the day he forgives them, he becomes an adult. I just need text messaging and that's it. |

But it is conceivable, not just in theory, that a bigger firm, with more spectrum, and consolidated personnel, could offer us better rates and better service.
We saw phenomenal improvement when our regional independent land-line carrier was "nationalized" by GTE Corporate, and then later became Verizon. Similarly, Cable TV service in most parts of SoCal are incredibly better after the Time Warner takeover of Adelphia, Comcast, Century and other franchises. |

| reply to rahvin112 OK sorry,to be more to the point the BUSINESS practices live on of the former company, all I see is a company that cares about either buying or get laws written there way to to eliminate any sort of competition.I know a company purpose is to make money but when you get that big you can roll over anything you want and us little people can't do a damn thing about it. |
